Alec Pringle
Hi Steve, a question that's come up before, without too many answers ! An old Sheffield foundry, presumably with roots in cutlery steel, who produced both castings and forgings for the motor industry - from the 50s until the 70s supplying Standard Triumph, Leyland, BL. Other companies they supplied included Massey, Perkins, Land Rover, David Brown, and doubtless many more. I suspect that they were to some extent secondary suppliers in the first instance, providing additional capacity when vehicle manufacturer's own facilities were unable to cope with demand. Perhaps Graham Robson may know more, or Chris Turner in Sheffield ? Cheers, Alec
