littlejim
Just in case you've wondered what the inside of the 4A fuel gauge sender looks like. Mine was telling me big porkies, casting nasturtiums at the fuel pump (now have a new one) and making the carby tuning more difficult. Suspect the extremely bent 'wiper' wasn't that bent originally, but that dismantling completed the job. That bit with the slot in it near the screwdriver blade positions the 'wiper' on the resistance wire. You can see the 'wiper' (now unwrapped and straightened out) just poking out from under the case. stuart
FWIW it is quite usual to find in a non operative sender that the very end of the winding has broken away from its terminal. They can be repaired by carefully unwinding a turn or two and then resolder back to the terminal post. Use a small soldering iron as the wire is about the thickness of a human hair. It doesnt effect the accuracy much and at least you know that it will match the gauge better than any of the repros Stuart.
