John McIver
Hi Andy, If you go to the Australian TR Register site you will find all the information on this subject. "Fitting a 2500 gearbox with overdrive to a TR." Google TR Register and take it from there. The article is under "Technical" on the Home Page. Regards, John
TR 2100
I have the chance to buy a Tr6 2500pi rebuilt overdrive box at good price ,And what i could do with knowing ,are the clutch mech different or would i need to source new pressureplate ,clutch fork etc ,or are they all compatible , My tr4 is a early62 non overdrive model . Any advice would be very well received Thanks Andy Hi Andy, I was waiting for someone better informed to answer your question, but since there is only one reply, I'll tell you what I can. TR4 clutch pressure plate, friction disc and release bearing are different to the TR6 fittings, but the clutch fork is (I think) the same, so you should be able to fit your existing release bearing and clutch complete. (if the fork is different, you'll find out soon enough). The rear mounting of an overdrive gearbox from a saloon car is different to the TR4 (and TR6) and will need some adaptation. I think the site mentioned above will give you the background on this. You could change over to a complete TR6 clutch system, that's what I have done (designed to take more power, better balanced and lighter), but you would need to re-drill your existing flywheel, or you get a new one, various lightweight options. My TR4 is also early 1962 - CT 67xx. How early is yours? AlanR
