fblue73
I am finishing up my USA spec conversion to PI. I need to either modify existing fuel tank or preferebly source an original late model tr6 pi tank. Does anyone have a non rusty one they'd like to sell. Or has anyone had good success in modifying a carb spec tank? Thanks

There are so many Ally or Stainless replacements available at a reasonable cost. Take advantage of the Dollar/Pound exchange rate and do your bit for Global Trade Check out the archived posts for more details.

The Leicester branch of the TR register have a local tame engineer who produces a very good ally tank for not a lot of dosh (Around £250 IIRC) - I bought one last year and it fitted in place of the old one with no fettling required. asland
Hi Can anybody explain what is the difference? I assume there is an extra nozzle for the return fuel and possibly some sort of swirl pot inside?? Cheers Hal

Manmail
I looked into the possibility of fitting an aluminium tank but opted against it as I believe the original tank adds to the ridigity of the rear end. Last thing I want is a cracked tank, thank you very much.

The "Leicester tank" is designed with avoiding tank cracking in mind - the mounting lugs are welded to a strap tack welded round the tank so the flexing of the body(a cause of cracks in ally tanks) is transmitted to the strap and not to the main tank itself. Manmail
Of course that will protect the tank which I think is good. However, it loses what the original tank has, which I previously mentioned
