I have just installed the handbrake on my shiny Tr4 chassis

The lever pulls nicely backwards and locks solid when the button is pressed.

Releasing the handbrake is nice and easy, but what stops the handbrake lever falling all the way forward? and what stops the ratchet turning backwards when the lever is almost horizontal(pointing forward)?

What is the position of the lever when the handbrake is 'off'

tx, John.

Hi John,

When the interior of the car is in place and the handbrake is 'off', the lever rests

snugly agains the gearbox cover/carpet, at about 30-40º to the floor, depending

on how thick your carpet/underfelt is.

Hi Alan,

thanks for that.

I presume that that will then stop the ratchet from falling out of the bottom of the lever?

cheers, John

The rachet is "contained" once the rod for the pawl, the pawl itself is all in place...basically no where else for it to go.

As Alan as said it only tips forward a relatively small way.For it to be "almost horizontal" there would be an incredible

amount of slack in the handbrake cable set up , rending it inoperative.
