New Tyres for Steel wheels

Recommended Posts

Hi, Im sure this has been covered before, but I am looking to find replacement tyres for standard steel wheels on a 1962 TR4 without overdrive./ Anay and all advice would be gratefully received.

BTW anyone got an overdrive gearbox?

Cheers

Ken

I'm using Vredestein Sprint+ 165 x 15 on both my TR and my Saab 96, I have also a full set of Firestones 155 X 15 in my garage for my Saab Sonett. I used them first on my Saab 96. I think both brands are up to the job. (FYI: Vredesteins are 75 euros a piece, about 60 GBP, Firestone is a bit cheaper)

I have the same Vredesteins on my 1958 TR3A and after 16,000 miles, they still look and ride fine. Compared with the tyres I was running before that, I found that the new Vredesteins had a lot more grip on tight turns on dry asphalt curves at a fairly high speed.
