dusty
hi guys, heres the problemo, the nearside caliper is worn and sticks now and agagin, ive done the usual and cleaned the piston etc, ive read the replys on the poor braking with tr,s. I had the same problem with a 2.8 capri i had , it went like the clappers but you cound'nt stop it quick enough, i spent a lot of money on 4 pot calipers etc new disc's and pads, results were , A marginal differnce, so not wanting to repeat that rather expensive job on the 2.8, im thinking poss new calipers, becos of the wear on the nearside, and goodridge hoses and a good set of pads, i read with interest the chaps from oz on the servo underpinnnings, so poss a new servo as well? i have a budget of 300.00 ive been saving ha ha, the mrs hasnt got tmy password to the forum, ahhhh. p.s. i checked the discs and after 90k they don't look to bad so i mite not change them. Rhodri
Hi- I don't think I have seen a "worn" caliper, they normally just rust inside. I would suggest you just renew the seals in both calipers having cleaned the caliper bores with fine wet and dry, if rusty, and replace the pistons. A couple of years ago I bought new calipers ( Capri 2.8) from Rally design in South Wales, for another project, for less than £40 each. I think they are the same caliper as the TR6, but may need different mounting bolts.

Check that the hose on the "sticky" side hasnt collapsed internally first as that will give similar symptoms. Stuart.
