Rog
himy starting motor when turning over sounds very dry and dull, would putting a dollop of grease on the drive shaft sort it thanks again toby Hi Toby; Not really sure but I seem to remember that this should be grease free to avoid collecting sh**e and jamming the dog. A squirt of parrafin maybe? Best of luck Rog
john.r.davies
Toby, Rog, The place to avoid grease is the Bendix drive that throws the pinion into gear with the flywheel rim cogs. There the approved lubricant is graphite. I've recommended pencil lead (!) as graphite powder was difficult (read 'impossible') to obtain, but I've heard that is can now be found again. A little greasy lubricant would be fine on the actual starter bearings, but consider a lack of good electrical contact between battery and starter first. John
