  1. I presume the reason it is advertised now as a 5 is that 5's fetch more money than 250's but surely how is he squaring this with the logbook and the DVLA.?

I would be interested to hear Roger Ferris's comments on this one. B)

I also agree the wheels are a bit naff

  2. Just a pedantic few words on the eBay advert. All caps and centre justified text is hard to read and amateur, not to mention shouty. They're Webers, not Webbers. I'm in mourning for the mangled apostrophes and the other spelling howlers. While I'm on the rant just how much power does the injection drive sap?

    There. That's better.

Pete, you missed the Treble Webbers, presumably the Tenor's , Bass's and Alto's would be joining later. :D:D

  3. The car was on the TR Register's stand at the Classic Car Show at the NEC in November - very interesting, and a unique TR.

But how is it that on 17th January Rex receives, by post, the March issue of Practical Classics - the publishing world is completely bonkers!

Hi Ian, I have had Practical Classics and Classic & Sports Car mags for some time now and pay by DD twice yearly. They are both delivered about 6 weeks before the published date.

Its a pity that the Lottery results for the following week are not included, or I would have a stable of TR5's in the garage :):)

    Regards Rex

  4. In the March issue of Practical Classics which dropped through my letterbox yesterday is an excellent article on the restoration of Mike Hazlewoods TR4A.

Very interesting and congratulations to all who produced the article, and especially to Mike for all the hard work it must have taken to do the restoration..

  5. I recently re-insured with Towergate and because I was looking for an agreed value they sent a Triumph price guide which states that:

The AGREED VALUE should be equivalent to the MARKET VALUE of the car.

    A UK spec RHD TR6 in group D ( excellent ) ranges from D1 £13,500 to D5 £ 27,000.

The price guide is dated 16/01/2013

    Hope this helps

  6. The wording in the advert is misleading, I think.

The metal strip (note: strip) at the front is sewn in - not an easy job

to replace. It is in three sections to allow the hood to be folded.

The rear hollow rond bar (note: bar) slides into the rear of the soft top

quite easily, so this piece is not normally supplied.

The advert implies this rear bar is fitted at the front - it isn't.

    Just badly worded, I think.

Alan is right, I have just bought one from this company and it is excellent quality, but you need to re-use

the hollow round bar from the REAR of your old surrey top.

The advert is just badly worded

I got prompt service with next day delivery.

  7. Joe, there was a TR4A rolling chassis on e:bay last week item 320522404796 from a chap called straight-eight in Ross on Wye area

opening bid was £ 1000-00 no-one had a bid on it. Look it up in completed items.

Also Mark TR4 can be contacted on flyingenglishmen@hotmail.com I think ?

    Regards

  8. Anyone know where I can get a new padded switch plinth for an early TR4? The usual suppliers have one for the 4A listed but not the early one.

    Paul

Paul have you tried Drakes Motors in Kelowna BC

Does the TR4 hood lift up at speed creating wind and rain to ingress, if so whats the best option to improve.

    Cheers.Norman

Hi Norman, On my Tr4 with surrey top I have only had 1 occasion where the vynil top has come out from under the windscreen

capping, although it was at about 70 mph ( not to be repeated its quite scary ). On reflection I think I had not tucked the front in properly when I put it on in a hurry as it was starting to rain. I have not had any general problems regarding water ingress

I have read some where about someone fitting a TR6 header rail which obviously clips down a lot firmer but you would need the rail and windscreen capping together with a new surrey top vynil to do it.

    Hope that helps

  10. Hi all, - seen a lot of TR4s with minilite wheels in various Triumph magazines. I fancy changing my wires for minilites(of course keeping the wire wheels for the future). What size minilites do I need and best tyre size to fill arches without fouling. Seem to remember a well used US TR250 on the front cover of Triumph World a few months ago with minilites; am after the same look.

Hi kevj On my TR4 I have 5.5J minilites with 195 x 65 Pirelli 6000 tyres whiich I think fit very well.

The 6.0 minilite is I think too wide, others have their own opinions.
