  1. In answer to a post above, I can’t say it was a waste of time for me, I enjoyed my self immensely, some might say meeting up with you Paul H alone was worth the entry costs.

For me Friday is setting up, if camping then getting accustomed to surroundings  mixing with others and having a drink and food in the evening.

Saturday this year the MCC trial tests, checking out stalls, traders bring and buy, then picking up ordered parts, followed by viewing all the cars in Hall and meeting up with those old faces.  Including forum meeting this year. Perhaps a trip to a local town for some or maybe a drive out or walkabout locally which as far as I’m aware always been arranged wherever we go.

Sunday more of the same and listen to Wayne in the arena before packing up and making your way home. Maybe some left early because they had to travel further.

Like stated elsewhere where you have losses exceeding 25% of members subscriptions in a single year, as the MT you have to take that into consideration when planning events.  As my old Grandma use to say, have a £1 and spend £0.99 pennies on ecstasy spend £1 and a penny misery, you need to cut you garment  according to your cloth.

The ice cream on Friday was really good, I had two and There was tea and coffee available free at the the TR stand.

No it seemed much the same perhaps a little low-key but I wouldn’t want to have missed it.

I was in Harrogate from Devon I had a great time there too.

  2. Suzanne made a comment and Rob H asked a question.

With declared losses of 25% of members subscriptions. The simple answer to RobH is No to undertaking I guess and YES to mine if the event doesn’t get the support of the members. This apparently it not an answer anyone want to give.

There are escalating costs right across the board and were not the only club in this position. Clubs just can’t sustain these sort of losses and remain in existence, it’ll be foolish to think otherwise and the MT would be amiss not doing something to prevent it.

Shows need foot fall to keep costs down, if we are to run big events, The Register have been promoting a single event for years within our other Triumph Marquee clubs one good one. This is the time for all classic car marquee’s to come together. It reduces individual club costs, individuals members cost and traders cost too and helps traders plan when offering support.

So if Mick right and their constant learning does pay off, with the membership support let’s hope we won’t need to cancel events. I also guess it’s difficult referring to words like “scupper” in relation to other clubs when wishing to work with them. I’m looking forward to the 2024 event

  3. It appears while posting elsewhere you have replied here which I hadn’t seen. Thank you for that, I asked because there were clearly incorrect suggestions that perhaps it was the other club that determined that outcome.

I appreciate that we don’t have a crystal ball, who knows Putin my decide to strike, the Chinese or another country might release a deadly virus on the world.

But that wasn’t the question Mick, the Register clearly have already made plans for the 2024 and within those plans will have a reasonable knowledge of the costs I guess. The question that was asked, was if sales were down would you cancel. Perhaps I could put it another way, with the current planned 2024 event recently posted for June 2024, would the TR Register be able to cover the cost without cancelling the event should others decide not to proceed.

I’d like to believe you know, I have and will always support the management team and the TR register.  So Yes I would be more than happy to offer my services by being fully involved in  the organisation of the up and coming 2024 event, should you require my assistance.

    Regards Derek

There was a question on another post, roughly saying would we go it alone if as in the past the other clubs withdrew:-

The reply from Mick, stated in short it was a joint decision by all three clubs due to costs v ticket sales.

There appeared to be a question which didn’t appear to be answered, So I’ll repeat it here. should we assume then on that basis, if ticket sales appear down, would the same occur again or are we beyond that, with a large number of members enjoyment taking preference.

I ask this as as much as I enjoyed Previous International events where other clubs agreed an event together like Stafford on Avon.

I would and I believe others too prefer to have a more low-key event for sure like the one just passed, than not have an event at all, or as occurred a rushed last minute one day event with free entry that still cost the club 1000’s when one, two or all three clubs decide prematurely to cancel.

Just to remind you that as stated previously it was a joint decision by the three clubs to cancel Stafford based upon the costs vs. ticket sales.

    Mick

As this has been posted here and not in the Alex inn post, I’ll ask, Mick is that the official line that we can rely on as correct and final.  On that basis, I believe what was being asked or referred to above,  can we assume that it ticket sales are down the same could occur again, or are we beyond that and a large number of members enjoyment would take preference.

  6. I enjoyed it, the MCC trial was great to participate in, and I’m told fun to watch. Meeting up with old faces, really old faces and some new ones.

Saw some lovely cars in and out of the hall including some none standard, one a BMW diesel TR6, although not a conversion I’d personally do.

Camping with our group, sitting out with them on Friday evening and BBQing Saturday. Chatted to Pete Barrett and team on the TR Register Insurance stand.  Popped into the Beer tent, tried a hotdog with crispy onions and I joined the forum members. I collected pre ordered parts, oh yes listened briefly to Wayne dulcet tones before packing up and making our way home.

No it wasn’t Malvern but I enjoyed it somewhere between there and an open field Paul H referred to enjoying in the good old days, no I’d say a nice weekend. Thanks to those that organised it and volunteered to help out.

  7. MCC Trial, this is Wayne’s winning run. Which I guess he will not let anyone forget making the most of it for months to come:)

Congratulations Mr Scott for winning the trophy.  I got an award to, being dead last and making unscheduled amendments to the course.

Enjoyed the weekend immensely good to meet up with old faces, real old faces and some new too.

  8. I understand that Bob so should the management determine a day and time for  forum members to meet up and add it to a schedule,  or when TR@70 was announced months ago would it have been an idea for one of the regular attendees to suggest and agree a time and make the request prior to the schedule being produced.

I guess that this may make me even more unpopular,  sometimes I wonder do we need to accept some responsibility.

  9. Pauls correct,  I saw somewhere here on the forum recently, suggesting a forum meeting on Saturday at 1600 hour at marquee bar tent. Which appeared well received.

I wonder did anyone ask the operation manager or Jo from office for this meeting to be added to TR@70 schedule when it’s completed?

  10. I use to Walk from Paignton to kingswear via Brixham around the coast. I regularly camped at Mansands. Coleton Fishacre is still a regular visiting spot for us. I’m with John out of the two, manly because of the gardens. Dartmoor and the Southams are others I like to drive too. Not sure where you ate, but some great restaurant and pub food in the area. South Milton sands there is a great little cafe we’re the do light lunches, it’s owned by Michel Cane. Paignton and Brixham have changed drastically, they don’t  do it for me as it once did. Then again I’m older and needs change.

I’m glad the you enjoyed yourself Ian, perhaps you will fry the trip down the Dart in the future.

Immigrants and indigenous. Born in Devon, with a Welsh Father American Grandfather and Devon Dartmouth farmer girl Grandmother on his side and a Londoner mother and Grandfather born in Whitechapel to a Spanish immigrant on hers, as a 57 Heinz variety child you may not be surprised I don’t believe it’s where you originated from matters. It’s your ethics, work values, and that, initially I believe comes from your family and then from your schooling.

Born not long after the war, there were shortages but opportunities, things to build on and if you had initiative and goals you could achieve anything. Now we seem to stifle initiative replace them with rules and regulations.

You have rights and it’s someone else’s responsibility. That’s encouraged in our schools our courts and in the media.

The trouble with imposed rights they can be removed along with your liberty. No longer do we reason or ask questions we are told what to believe force fed a view and are chastised if we have an alternative. The days of a grammar school daughters of a greengrocer or a grammar school son of a circus act seem to have gone, where we were told to challenge and that values matter,  that no longer seems to exist.

Remember Covid, travel restrictions, masks, isolation, schools closed businesses closed, prediction made by so called highly educated scientists vastly over egged.

Following scientists calculated forecasts the American president is calling for changes here and across the world, here in the UK our Government had stopped fracking while America has increased theirs to highest levels ever and supplying us gas 1000’s of miles away, here drilling licenses withheld for oil while USA are pumping as before

Here we pay close close to £7.00 a gallon for fuel while USA fuel prices is  $3.50 a gallon  significantly lower even taking into account the 10% difference in volume. Our electric prices are 23% higher here, financially we are crippling our country while others China India and the USA amongst others are ignoring it and flourishing.

Why do we do this? It’s based on  scientist models forecast.  Yet 40 years ago while in Turkey in the green forest hotel with temperatures in excess of 40 degrees we were evacuated because of a forest fire. 20 years ago in Spain we had temperatures then in excess of 40 degrees with ground fires locally, and there wasn’t a mention from the media. Back in the 1800 when the black stuff ran trains industry and homes the Thames froze on numerous occasions and again in 1963. In my time I recall when we use to have those walking around with plaques saying the end is nigh, then they were cranks now there experts.

It will all be better with a change of Government, yep let’s close down schools longer and extend lock down further.  Their nuclear record has proved outstanding and on the NHS,  look at all the hospitals we lease at three time the cost of building them. On Blair’s revised doctors contract. Truth you can rely on them for that too. Then giving responsibility to unelected quangos, passing responsibility for interest rates to the Bank of England another unelected body.  Remember No more boom and bust, perhaps just Bust. The selling of our gold reserves when it was rock bottom, and in 2016 proudly stating there is no money left. If you believe they’re  the answer with the like of the current opposition and Mr flip flop himself, who previous employment required those in it, to argue a case whether they believe it or not. If you think they are the solution perhaps you need your bumps tested.  That said will they be worse? Is the same enough?

If Co2 is the problem and what’s been stated is correct, I find it incredibly that there are those elected by their constituents cutting down wide area of trees to build wind farms in Scotland.

I’m sure plants need Co2 to grow and produce oxygen, the more Co2 the more plants grow the more oxygen they produce and if my memory serves me well, our current level of Co2 is a lot lower than it has been in the past.

Clearly I’m not an expert and I’m sure I’ll be corrected by those apparently better educated than me, by the academics.  I believe it’s not all down to our Co2 production level.  I find hard to accept cancelling out the relatively small percentage of Co2 we produce here, will make the difference just cripple us as a country, that quantity of life for those in the future is paramount, it’s also quality and currently that seem to be eroded. My life has been extraordinary, I only hope that for those coming into this world now they have the same chances and experiences I have had, and that those reportedly managing the countries do considerably better than what’s available right now. That’s my thought rant over for now.

  12. Rosemoorevents enjoyable show and chance to see the gardens again as well as the car display. It appears Sunday is a more popular day but the weather forecast isn’t so promising. Still take some waterproof garments.  Just the four  cars on TR stand Saturday, but the were other TR register members in TR’s there as individuals or with other local groups, The Drewmotty’s arrived on foot, nice to meet up.

Where you are you don’t get to vote,  it appears inner Londoners determine who’s Mayor and that Mayor determines the policy for Greater London area or am I wrong?
