I was at the 50 years of TR Register evening. It was interesting at that meeting to listen to how Pete Buckle became the TR Register spare secretary, to then go on, work with Pete Cox and together with their contacts form a business that has gone on to provide TR parts amongst others all over the world.

That these two men, and indirectly the Register,  are part of the reason why we have so many TR’s still on the road today.

We all know loosing a family member is difficult for those remaining but there must be some comfort knowing that as a result of providing for one’s family, he also made a difference and brought much pleasure to the likes of me and many more.

    Thank you Mr Buckle RIP

  2. Popped to see what lights were on at Totnes, the AD 907 Town, with a castle dating right back to King William 11 times. Much of main street building shown in the picture are mainly build of wood. A early market town already established well back in 1200.

lovely drive and looks like fine day tomorrow if the old saying red sky at night is to go by.

    Very nice Derek.

There used to be a lot of good views around here too but over the last 30 years or so, hedges have been planted or allowed to grow tall ( 'green' subsidies I think ) so many roads are now like driving down an endless wooded tunnel and you can only glimpse the views when you pass the odd field gate.

Thrust me Devon is full of hedges, but we are fortunate to also have the open space of the moorland as seen, undulating hills and valleys of green fields plus two coast line much of which offers clear unobstructed views from not only towns but rural roads and beaches out to sea.

  4. Returning home early this morning after the Devon group TR Christmas lunch and stop over in Tavistock.

I never get fed up with these views although my photography doesn’t do it justice. Devon is beautiful from coast to coast and all the hills between, well perhaps with very few exceptions.

    love it.:)

  5. Only if you leave it at that, write again, with a copy of the original letter asking why you haven’t had a reply, if MP XYZ wishes to continue receiving my support, I need to know he/she is at least taking on board my concerns. please respond. Your earliest acknowledgment would be much appreciated.
    Regards constituent.

    That has worked, for me.

  6. It seems its a choice of putting it back to the original colour a must for the purest. While other may think, is it a popular colour with the majority, if not if or when one decide to sell it, when there’s a choice of cars will it affect one’s ability to sell or the possible value?

I personally had a MG in that or similar colour I obviously liked the colour as I bought it and the colour popularity with others wasn’t my concern at the time.

Looks like the is car is coming together nicely good job.

Concept cars are just that …a designers free for all .

Just look at it as a positive in that BMW still  have the triumph name in their thoughts ….one day a TR9 may appear . Trouble is it will be electric .

    And …..

personally I have no interest in owning an electric car, certainly not one I wish to drive for my enjoyment

Saying that for years I recall avoiding mobile phones, if people want to get hold of me they can contact the office, how that’s changed.

Who knows maybe people could be looking back, and saying….  I remember when we first saw the TR25, it looked great and the performance was incredible what’s more you can drive it yourself.  One day maybe I’ll say to my self I want to own one.

Who knows if you own one you may even be accepted in the TR Register. Well anything is possible.

I think all things evolve and part of the excitement is that BMW are starting to re- acknowledge the Triumph and especially the TR  Marque.

it is acknowledged that the TR25 is an electric concept car.  Not a cartoon. It has a modern elegance in my mind.
i for one think it’s also a real coup for the club to have both cars on the stand and that the designers will be on hand all weekend. That’s a real biggy for any classic car club.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a petrol head from birth. I haven’t even driven an electric car but I recognise that, that is one of the significant futures of transport. So a car manufacturer/ designer is going to do elec concepts rather than a V8.

so long as the club lobbies for a continuation of petrol production and dispensations for classic car users it’s money well spent in membership.

Like all of that, if in the unlikely event that BMW are happy to do so. Especially with TR owner Club/TR Registers long term agreement. This could be a real coup, like MG and Jaguar, Mercedes, to have a current model in production, I believe would help our club immensely.

We always had our Summer holiday in Paignton when I was a child and I remember that red soil. My Grandparents lived there, hence the reason for the Summer visits, their bungalow was on Primley Park  - one of the steepest streets/hills around.

There was a garage virtually opposite that road, Elmbank garage where I saw my first TR,  swapped it for a Hillman Hunter a few weeks later they / the garage parked on that hill the hand break released or cable broke it rolled down that hill and was wrecked completely. I still had the TR4a. A great swap, and a start of a long term relationship with TR’s.:)
