I'm very surprised that the 4A only has one 'T' shirt. Is it not possible to fit 2 as per the TR5 chassis and make it stronger?
You'll get there Rodger, it will be great when it's finished....

There ya go, how many times do you want tellin?? ... UNC it!....
Tony
PS. Thanks Mick, you said what I was trying to say (my wife does that too just like Rogers)...

Yes Simon but is that a UNF or UNC that Stuart tightened? I think you will find it was UNC.

Simon,
Why on earth do you want to use standard UNF helicoils when the UNC ones are praised by all to be stronger?

I agree with Rodger, a parallel pin is actually a much stronger proposition (with a cross pin for extra security).

You should be using premium fuel...full stop.

If the handbrake locks the rear brakes then I would be looking at the master cylinder, especially the seals for the rear brakes.

Yes but over a tiny mileage compared with road cars. They wont let go immediately or we'd know. "TR keeps falling on me 'ead"
Yes, but they haven't failed at all have they?. If you have information of one of these 'letting go', please share it with us Peter.

Ian,
I understand what you are trying to convey but I can't possibly imagine that TR manufacture would be that wildly different considering Rich had to remove one inch of material to make the tunnel cover fit, the same goes for other 'repro' parts. We have discussed this subject at length but it's time the major suppliers were put in the frame.

Reproduction parts
I am restoring a Triumph TR4a. Recently I bought a fibre glass gear box tunnel. I've also in the past bought other repro bits. When you ring the supplier and ask if these parts are supposed to fit, the response is, " They are repro parts, what do you expect?" We drive these cars and restore them, are we so gullible to expect these expensive replacement parts to fit?
Answers on a postage stamp. Ray.
Sorry but I think their reply is disgusting considering what we are being charged for these 'repro' parts. Please let us (me) know who the supplier was as I'm looking at getting one soon but I don't want to buy off your supplier.

I couldn't find any references to a failure anywhere Rodger and loads of these brackets have been sold. I can't understand people knocking their safety without any facts to substantiate their argument.

I'm not mad - just a little quirky
Have a look at this article - it may prove my sanity

If that doesn't convince you to use adjustable brackets then nothing will, saves heaps of time. I totally recommend them.

Hi Nick,
I'm running an MSII (Megasquirt 2) but if my maps will be of any use let me know.

Nick,
8mm is more thane adequate for a return. We (Ihave EFI too), are using a much lower fuel pressure than the mechanical Lucas system. I have a swirl pot fitted in my boot (trunk), and my return goes into this. I never have the fuel starvation problem when cornering and I don't have a filter on the return as it has been pushed through a filter already and a second one is overkill.

That's correct Dave.

Roger,
You've tidied your garage, sign of a sick mind lol.
Mick Richards
Hey, I resemble that remark..... :D
Well done Rodger (on fitting the glass not tidying up)...

Hi Tim
I replaced mine a couple of years ago with a home made one using Teflon coated bike cable parts, it gives a much smoother operating cable, was cheaper than a replacement standard cable and I've enough left over for another one.
RonA
Hi Tim,
I did the same,it's smooth as silk and works well.

Hi Graze,
Following on from Peter's comments regarding alignment. After fitting the throttle bodies, have a look down them and check the alignment with the cylinder head ports (use a mirror). I have yet to see a throttle body hole line up correctly. You can adjust the throttle body by enlarging the hole where the bottom split pin is a small amount which will give a little movability or you can adjust the cylinder head ports to match. This will actually rob you of some HP if not aligned and affects the airflow.

Tony
Edit:
It will also pay you check that the holes in the gasket between line up correctly as these tend to be off sometimes.

Out of interest Rodger, how many base coats (colour) did you put on?
