  1. Paul-

I believe you need part number 650310 - RevingtonTR has it listed; in the US I've purchased it from Roadster Factory.

    Regards,

    Randy

    Thanks Randy

Looks just what I'm looking for

    Cheers

  2. Hi All

Back from Italian lakes and car was perfect, more then can be said for the weather

The trip highlighted the need to replace the door seals to reduce rattle over bumps

She still has the original furlex and separate rubber and I would like to continue this arrangement

Does anyone know where I can get the rubber seals to fit the existing metal channel

    thanks

  4. Hi All

Recently I have been having problems with second gear. Changing from 1st to 2nd is never a problem, but 3rd to 2nd sometimes results in horible crunching noises as the cogs don't mesh.

Also having changed down to 2nd, when the engine is under load there isn' a poblem but then slowing for a junction/corner and it will jump out of gear. It only happens with 2nd gear.

Is there a quick fix or I am looking at taking the engine/gearbox out?

    Thanks

  5. Hi Darren

    Hi Paul

Where going to the Italian lakes in the TR4 in June as well.

The problem is with the headlight kits/ tape or whatever, you cant see where you're going with the tape on... which is more of a safety factor than perhaps dazzling someone which is highly unlikely on dipped anyway. We've not bothered for the last four years and I've never seen a foreign motorist in the UK with headlight tape on.

In Seville a couple of years ago we stopped at services and witnessed a local driving a ford escort with no lights, period. No glass and very little anything else. Theyre not as fussy on the continent when it comes to regulations, which is a good thing, refreshing to say the least with all the petty bureaucracy going on in Blighty.

    Cheers

  6. Hi All

Taking CT 24520 down to the Italian lakes in June and although she is running very sweetly I'd like someone more experienced than I to look her over and try to reduce any possible problems for a long trip. I live in Worthing Sussex and am quite prepared to travel ( within reason ) to the right person. Any suggestions please.

    Thanks in advance

  7. Having just finished respraying CT24090 over the winter she is now ready to return to the road. Having been standing all winter I want to change the oil & filter. She has a spin off conversion and currently appears to have a Mahle OC 47 filter which I am having problems finding anywhere. Has anyone got any suggestions where I might get one or alternatively another brand that would fit.

    Thanks

  8. Hi All

Just returned to Sussex from a weekend in Leics. CT24520 ran beautifully all the way. The same cannot be said about her soft top. Anything over 40 mph and it would come detached from the top of the windscreen ( She's a 4 not 4a) and 170 miles in the pouring rain at 40 was no fun. I realise that the fundamental principal of attachement is a weak one but has anyone got any tips on how to get the bugger to stay put.

Failing that how interchangeable would a 4a hood be as I beieve these have a more substantial fitting method.

    thanks in advance

  9. Winter is allegedly over so CT24520 is back on the road after her winter paint job. However she is idling at 1000 rpm with both the throttle stops screwed in so that they don't touch the the throttle stop flange. With the cost of fuel I think it prudent to lower her idle, anyone got any ideas? Timing is about 7 degrees, contacts gap ok, carbs are balanced as much as poss, mixture allright on colourtune. new choke cable so all well there. <_<

  10. Happy New year all

CT24520 will soon be wearing her newly painted panels and i trust she will look good. However the wire wheels need refurbishing and i would like to get this done in the near future.

Can anyone suggest a trusted source for blasting and repainting the wheels in the Sussex Area, the closer to Worthing the better.

    thanks in advance

  11. Greetings

I'm sure this general subject has been covered many times previously and any links to prevoius posts would be good.

However, having removed the front and shortly the back wings from CT24520 I want to seal the inner & outer wings as thoroughly as possible.

I have come across Epoxy Mastic 2 part paint while browsing tinternet. Has anyone had any experience of this stuff ? Aparantley it is used on oil rigs and the general blurb reads quite well. It is not cheap though and suggestions for less esxpensive alternatives would be very welcome.

  12. It is now the following day and I have fitted new copper HT leads. However, in the dark last night there were still sparks arcing from the new leads to any piece of metal in the close vacinity. Is this normal and just not noticed in daylight or can anyone shed any light?

  13. Hi all

Once upon a time CT24520 ran beautifully. Then the carbs started leaking petrol, tracked to the o rings on the mixture jet, replaced these (also the diagphrams, three times as cd 175 replacements seem to be for the second gen of strombergs). Anyway, have now balanced the carbs, set the mixutre with aid of a colour tune, set the points and ignition timing (8 BTDC)

and she is still not as happy as she was. A friend suggested looking at the HT leads in the dark and sure enough I had my own mini firework display.

My question to you all then is, what should I replace the leads with? I want to retain as much originality as possible, ie not blue or yellow leads. I understand modern leads are silicone rather than copper, will these be better or worse than a straight copper replacement. My dizzy cap is of the side entry type. Should the spark plug caps be straight or 90 degree elbows?

    Any comments gratefully received.

    Thanks
