  1. In the shed for the last week - I've been weeding. Amazing how much weed grows in the shed. (actually just outside)>

I've weeded and laid a rustic brick border on two of the three sides.  Today I finished off the weeding on the third side.

Tomorrow I shall edge this side.  Bl**dy hard work

I think I would prefer to repair a badly corroded TR4A boot lid.

  2. Hi Andy

I visited Bute with  a dozen or so TR friends in the early 2000's. The Toilet is wonderful - well worth a visit even if you are not bursting.

Zavarone's  (yes, the Lena Zavarone's family)  Ice Cream parlour just across the road.

Mount Stuart is well worth a visit.  They have very many paintings scattered all over the place.  The one that took my fancy on the staircase was of an Elder lady.

When I read the data plate it was a Hogarth ( was that why I liked it).

  3. Hi Steve,

easy enough to remove the old Anodising and then polishing.  I spoke to a local Anodising company here in Hayes asking if they could be re-Anodised.

If the base metal was in good condition it probably would be possible but any corrosion would just dis-integrate.

Welding could well be possible but very delicate and you would still need to remake the corroded shape - not that easy.

The new ones can look OK but not quite perfect.

    As for Stainless   !!!!!

  4. Hi Jerry,

with 0 (zero) Ohms on one channel the amplifier chip (I assume that is what is in there) is going crazy.

It would probably warm up some what and then shut down.

If you removed that dead speaker completely the radio may bounce back into life

  5. Hi Folks

I have some OD controllers for both 'A' and 'J' type OD boxers.

You manually select OD and the controller will deselect when you change gear. Or you can manually deselect back into gear.

When selecting Neutral the controller resets to the Off condition.

There is an indicator LED light with night driving dimmer controller.

The 'A' type is £45. The 'J' type is £50.

There is also a switch identical to the TR4/4A switch that will fir the 5 and 6.

I know some folk think these are a bit geeky but they do make the driving a slightly better experience.

  6. Hi Steve,

the new cappings look very good. That was the good news.

The bad news - they take a fair bit of effort to fit properly.

They sit too low, so you need to put pads under it to give a reasonable gap. This may not be straight forward.

The front edge needs to be raised slightly and the back needs to sit on the rear edge of the screen frame.

The outer ends just about work but as Stuart mentions they are a little on the short side

This would be an ideal part to have made from Stainless steel.

  7. Hi Jerry,

Without seeing the circuit a little guess work would suggest that if the amplifier section is a big(ish) IC then with one channel having problems the internal safety system may shut it down (on all channels).

    So the answer is Yes.

    Replace the speaker

  8. Hi Ernest,

SuperPro bushes had no effect on the stance of my 4A and the driving/control appeared to be improved slightly.

The main benefit  is the longevity. The standard rubber bushes have a question m,ark over them.

  9. Hi Frank,

four or five years ago Pete Wigglesworth put a post on showing a source for something very similar.

The channel will work but it will take some fettling.  I think I have 4 in my todo box. They were about £5 each.

I'll have a look for Pete Forum handle and posy it here.  BlueTR3A-5EKT

If the original source is dead then You can have one of mine.

I'll look in the garage to see what needs doing.

I thinkl it came from a BL salon car !!
