That’s what happens when you put a 6 cylinder truck engine in a sports car

Why not our classifieds - with a flyer in our wanted section here,
thats all free.
John.
Because the audience would be very small and probably restricted to people who already have all the parts they need.

Obviously being an ex rally car then it would be, having restored quite a few of these Im of the opinion there isnt a huge amount of the original car there..

Hi Stuart
I agree but the paint in the door jambs looks poorly done, one of the windscreen securing bolts so long you could hang your coat on it when the door is open , the wrong type of screws holding the commission plate. I know they are little things, it’s a nice car but for an important car and expecting that sort of money the little things count.
I know you wouldn’t let such an important car leave your workshop like thatcheers Alan

Looks a bit rough round the edges for that sort of money

Magnificent thank you Hamish i love your fathers videos that you share here.
to think a lot of the vintage cars would have been about 30 years old then and racing with pudding bowl helmets and fireproof pack-a-macs .
slight nerdy moment on my part the second Renault at the beginning at Goodwood I think is actually an air cooled Franklin

Z320 - I hope not. Can't have run for more that half an hour since rebuild.
Andy - Timing was set up accurately. The cam has a vernier gear so it was relatively simple to set up and get the timing sorted.
I may have to have an in-depth look at the carbs just to check everything is in order.
I was kind of hoping that someone might suggest which springs and needles might provide a starting point and see if those correlate with what's actually in the carbs. Then I can start making small adjustments and changes to get to a more satisfactory point.
For Needle comparison mintylamb has always been my starting point

I imagine for some obscure bureaucratic reason the station has to have a certain percentage of fails

I would quite like a pet elephant but not sure where I would keep it maybe in the kitchen with the goldfish

Isn’t A.I wonderful it removes the need to think and of course everything it tells you is reliable and true, so eventually I will never have to think again like most people on social media these days.
Personally I prefer books made of paper and real world experience, but as the kids keep telling me I am a backward old fart.
oh I read somewhere that Tesla was the third most unreliable car in a survey

Yes, a lot of talk and little action. I don’t believe for one minute that a furrin registered car will be stopped, let alone prosecuted.
A quirk of French legislation is that my 1959 3A has a normal French log book. It is thus obliged to be tested every 2 years, like any vehicule over 4 years old - of which, incidentally, I heartily approve. In addition it will theoretically not be exempt from any of this anti-pollution nonsense, when it finally comes into force.
A look at Alan’s link will show just what a mess this legislation is. Politicians trying to score green points from their electorate.
jamesMy 3a is also in carte grise normal by choice James, not wanting restrictions on how and when I use it, bit stuffed with ZFE but don’t drive in Paris and think it’s unlikely I will ever be stopped if I go to Bordeaux

It might be an idea for someone within the register management to contact the ffve in France to clarify the position for foreign registered historic vehicles, most of the affected zones have made an allowance for French registered vehicles de collection and I imagine that foreign registered historic vehicles should benefit from the derogation but I can’t find it written in black and white anywhere.
there is talk of a special exemption sticker for historic vehicles but I can’t find how to apply for one.https://www.ffve.org/zones-a-faibles-emissions-zfe

Years ago I installed a screen in a TR4 with the help of a friend who was a retired mechanic. Did the string thing but it just didn’t want to go the last couple of mm. No problem he says, goes inside gets a large rubber mallet and starts wacking the glass, I think it’s a good thing I am wearing brown underwear, to my surprise it just popped in, Old school mechanic!

Hi Folks,
Back in the 90's I bought (what the salesman said) was a very nice sheep skin coat.
I questioned the very large size and he said that came at no extra cost and allowed room to move
The leather was nice and soft, and I grew into it.
About 5 years ago the leather started to fail in high wear/bend area. No problem I can sort that and I don't even need an angle grinder.
The end result looked like a war ravaged spitfire pilots costume.
The next problem was the woolly cuffs. Rather grubby AND thread bare. So I started a search on Ebay for sheep skin. I was surprised to find nothing that fitted the bill.
I ordered some but it was more like white Brillo pad.
Anyway I was at Dunelm the other day and notice a pile of genuine sheep skin and not too expensive. But. the woolly stuff was a touch too long.
At the bottom of the pile was just what I wanted. Short hair, warm and soft and big enough to do a shop full of jackets.
At the check out I engaged the young lady in small talk about the rarity of Faux and where did they live. Straight over the top of her head.
Sometime this winter I need to get to grips with these cuffs.
Roger
I was always told as a teenager that it was important to make sure the coller and cuffs match!
i will get my coat….

You’ve found it JOhn…… and of course with reputation intact!
It is all a bit secretive and very private, l sincerely doubt any other collection in the world even gets close….. If I tell you that I’m in ‘the middle’ of Denmark see how Google gets on? - He’s got the same initial, ‘T’, as me.. just 400+ more old cars than me! (Although, I found one of mine ‘centre stage ‘)………. And, of course, it’s all being run by a Brit..
Would that be in Billund ?
or possibly
-
Can I name the car Paul ? it looks a bit like a paul to me, though those bumps upfront may make it a Pauline ?
-
Although it’s the rolls Royce of wheeling machines it’s very over priced looking at the condition, would need new bearings the wheel refacing and I can only see only one anvil on the machine. Would also need a bit of machining and work to sort out the eventual wear
-
Thanks Stuart, I was thinking a finger sander would work
-
Just a numpty question but is there any reason you can’t weld the grooves up in place without removing the back plates ?
-
Later spitfire windscreen frames are the same frame, I fitted one to my TR4, you may have to check the holes for the closing mechanism on a six though

It's odd, I knew one of the Manfreds had such a beard. Yet I have no "mind's eye": no ability to pull up an image. I recgonise faces OK, and often put names to them, but I cannot "see" them internally. My "mind's eye" is just swirling blackness. Decades ago I did wonder if I was somehow odd as my experience was at odds with other's descriptions, but describing what we experience consciously is fraught with difficulty ( eg does my experience of the colour red match your's?). Recently researchers have established that lack of a mind's eye - aphantasia - is quite common ( ca 5%). https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-06-brain-people-lack-visual-imagery.html
And I wasn't an especial MM fan. Odd what we remember.
Peter
That’s really interesting Peter, I have trouble recognizing people that I know and remembering their names, I had a 20 minute chat with someone that knows me today but I have no idea who they are, I recognised their face but couldn’t for the life of me remember their name

Technical
40 thou of an American head is not very much and will get it nowhere near the spec of a UK head, If I remember correctly I had close to 220 thou removed from my very late 1976 TR6 US spec head. I will see if I can find the technical document that I used that gave all the specs and the heights and combustion chamber specifications.
I also had to change the pushrods for the shorter Uk type
cheers
