  1. Hi Richard it does look the sensible option especially as I'd like to take the car on a European road trip next year. Trouble is I don't tend to pair "sensible" with "Tr"

  3. Hi Bob I've used one of their conversions on an Austin 8 and it's done a sterling job. I may well end up taking this route again but the price of the e bay ones caught my eye. Are the mechanical ones dire or have I just been reading all the bad news out there on the web? Ta
  4. Hi Rob glad you're not tucked up in bed. To be honest my present regulator is an unknown quantity as I've spent the last four years turning a large amount of parts into a Tr3. It's more a case of I've been doing too much reading and am thinking (bad idea) that the mechanical regulators may be a weak link. I don't wish to move to an alternator, in part because I had a rebuilt dynamo included in the bits n pieces that came with the car. I actually have a couple of original regulators so was considering seeing if one or the other was working ok but my eye was caught by the ones I
  5. I'm going to take my own advice now and ask the question first. The following eBay regulator listed as item No. 114721131927 is described as Electronic Assisted Dynamo -ve E 12V Regulator RB106 37066 130052 Screw Terminal Or should I stick with the mechanical regulator? Ta
  6. Oh bugga. Thanks Rob, yes it is for a dynamo regulator, guy has it on eBay at the moment. I'd best scuttle over to eBay and see if he'll be kind enough to let me off the hook for my "offer" That'll teach me to ask for advice before I plunge in rather than after. Ta Mark
  7. Hi I've seen a solid state regulator with a fixed output of 8 amps could anyone out there tell me if this would be suitable for a Tr3? Cheers Mark
