Thanks I was getting all confused by the talk of swapping wishbones. I did this flip on my 6, as they had been installed the wrong way.

They really look the business, and it sounds like they work pretty well too despite the initial basic set up. Good job.

Don't you just remove the top wishbone arms from the fulcrum pin, 180 degree the pin and just reattach the arms?

Welcome to the club/ forum Tony, hope you get your '69 (I'm jealous, I only have a '70) recommissioned soon and have a blast driving it.

If and when you do come up this way Gareth, do drop me a line.. The kettle's on.
and < here's > a link to a local town's website listing local attractions.

Thanks for the offer Pete, very nice.
Looks to be a fair few things in just that local area too.
Will let you know...
Cheers

I was planning to go and see this place. There was a recent film about the 1938/9 excavation, which it revealed the ship was just an impression left in the soil, still amazing to see, but covered up again into the mound and of course the artifacts that are housed at the British museum.
So I didn't know what I would actually get to see, so I'm glad you got round to going here. I may well go elsewhere now.

I don't know about anyone else, but I could look at a different AI TR6 picture everyday.

Would not the weight of the bumpers make a difference?

Great work, and plenty of info and pictures as always.

There is also the throttle bodies to look at, such as they should all be in sync and throttle plates/ butterflies shut at idle. Plus any vacuum leaks around them. The mixture is changed via the amount of vacuum the engine is making so wear and tear or wrongly adjusted tappets can also affect it.

Very smart, nice masking too.

Thanks for all the explanations regarding uj's and sliding shaft verses cv joints. Makes a little more sense and particularly how suspension travel affects it.
Gareth

So why are they better than a UJ and sliding drive shaft?

Yes Miles, in for two cups of luke warm coffee.

Great write up (and pictures) of how these fit, they do look good, I'm sure they'll perform well too, awaiting your first test drive.

Hey some progress and at least you have the ultimate drive shafts to go on next.
Did you have new rear hubs to go on too I can't remember? I would certainly get the wheels balanced again and also change the front bearings as that's a fairly easy thing to do after you've switched the drive shafts.
Fun these old cars eh. Bet you'd find mine quite a rattly, noisy drive trained car, I'm just used to it.

Interesting read, something like this needs to be done to solve the problem of all the existing internal combustion engines including the less rich countries which would lag behind.
All positive if it can happen and allow us to use our cars as they were intended.

Ah same people lol, that figures.

What's that other device that you put in the king lead and is supposed to make better combustion, they usually have a rig to show you how much better it is over the standard single spark?
I always enjoyed the demo, but again I don't think it could really do anything.

Just thinking out loud here, but if your getting drain down on most injectors, the only place for the fuel to go is back to the rotor and finally out through the return line.
So it would be interesting to remove that pipe at the MU and observe it continue to flow sometime after the engine has been off.

Are you sure there is enough clearance between the servo push rod and the mc? A bit of a pain but can you go back to the original servo to test, this would confirm the mc's are OK, and that it's something to do with the fit of the servo.

Happy 2nd anniversary to Katie and your ownership of her. It surprising to see just how much she had done and how far she's come in that relatively short time.
Long may the quest for perfection continue.
