  1. Two coats of celly on. Will leave 48 hours and then wet flat back and apply a few more coats with a final 70/30 coat. Spotted a few small patches that would benefit from a skim of filler but will do that when I paint the whole car. Quite pleased with removing the ton of filler on it and taking it back to bare metal.
  2. Thanks Stuart, thought it would have been headlights out. They did it the easy way before and packed one side out with washers and didn't bother with a side bolt. I've put the side bolts in and it's made a huge difference with alignment. I'm about 8 mm out at the drivers corner so not too bad so far. Agree on the wings as there is a difference there but I haven't touched those yet. Thanks for the detailed set of instructions.
  3. Bonnet lined up better than expected. Any tips on fine tuning it? I don’t think I can line it up when it’s open.
  4. Yep, that’s where the cost is when painting, a long job.
  5. Taking forever, but all in the prep, almost there.
  6. 100% TR shop, superb, fitted myself as well.
  7. Thanks Rich, I’ll do that. I won’t be doing anymore to the car now that warmer weather is on the way. I’ll probably tackle the bootlid next and then the front wings.
  8. Couple of coats of primer, aiming to flat back this weekend and re-coat.
  9. I've covered mine in PPF, seems to work.
  10. Just been reviewing the O/S front inner wing which seems to have had a number of very poor repairs along with lots of pop rivets and I think the best solution would be to replace the inner wing. Any recommendations for suppliers? Guessing these are all BMH remanufactured panels? Thanks again.
  11. Quite pleased with the colour:
  12. Going to re-paint the original emblem using 1 shot enamel, will need to mix the blue down though. New one to keep me going.
  13. Thanks Rich, definitely not concours and will remain a working car for me. Good call on the correct rubbers, I'm currently using bonnet cones from a spitfire.
  14. I notice the top of my bonnet where the cones are is a slightly different shape to both of these, it's flat and doesn't have the raised section. Another question and I couldn't find this in the Moss catalogue. Is there a gasket between the bonnet hinges and the bonnet? Or metal to metal? Thanks J
  15. Mine is a 65 car with Strombergs, not sure if that makes a difference, too late to change now for me.
  16. That looks a superb job, ironically I don’t have any issues with the bonnet catching anything but I will check. I’m pretty sure this is the original bonnet as well as it was still in the original conifer underneath. It seems to have had a front end shunt at some point though as the grille panel is clearly a secondhand replacement along with the TR5 windscreen surround so a bonnet in the same colour may have been sourced? I did think about drilling out and cleaning behind but I’m keen to get the car on the road asap.
  17. Just bought new letters, a badge and the rubbers for the wings, next step is to finish top coating this week.
  18. Quite pleased with the colour:
  19. Etch primed the inside of the bonnet. Will flat back and paint over with high build primer and top coat when it gets a little warmer. Aiming to paint the top of the bonnet once I have aligned everything and it is back on the car:
  20. The bonnet hinge is split, cleaned it up and will weld it back together prior to painting.
  21. The drivers side looks like it is going to be challenging when I remove the wing (eventually). Lots of pop rivets everywhere including near the fuse box.
  22. yep, I actually think they fitted the bonnet and then added filler until it lined up with the wings instead of actually just adjusting the bonnet
  23. Making some good progress on the bonnet, etch primed and skim filled repair
