  1. Hi guys

So road-test soon on my import and this is how lights work so far

    1. Right lever on windscreen up, all lights off, flasher or turn signal works fine, same as on any EU car

    2. One down on lever, then flashers permanently on,

    3. One more down, all lights on, inc turn flashers permanently on

I an 99% sure the flashers or turn signals cannot be permanently on in EU, so what do I replace or how do overcome this is my question. Also front turn amber glass is all amber, ie not white and amber

    Thanks for help ya all!

  2. Hi

It sounds all a bit too much to me . . unless you enjoy prepping..

    For me, the basics are:

GOOD EUROPEAN BREAKDOWN INSURANCE AND RECOVERY! One that if necessary takes you back to UK

Smartphone with lots of charge, maybe a tablet in case your ever stuck in a town and need to do emails etc

    Water

    Few hose-clips

Lamp/torch (one of those powerful LEDs)

    Spare wheel, jack, floor mat

    Thin rain coats

    Triangle

    Vis vest

    5l fuel

Maybe a litre of oil (but how much oil does it burn?)

    Jumper cables/tow rope

    Spare keys

Much more than that its an exped and you need space for clothes, food hamper, wine & beer etc!

Italian and French mechanics should figure most if necessary, and if oyur stuck in a village for a few days that's part of the journey isn't it?

    God tur!

  3. hi Waldi

so your saying stick to imperial and don't start mixing metric? I can see you in the Netherlands - where do you buy your imperial nut n bolts etc from . . Namrick?

  4. Hi

My newly imported US 71 has hoses for hoses on the carbs. Any online reference to what all of these breathers actually do? Can upload pic if necessary!

  5. Thanks for this.

So would you agree its part 66/67, which to me look like regular bolts which I guess I could go get from a DiY store but maybe with a nut with non-slip plastic?

Was considering something more elegant - but if that's what is used I get it!

As for lever, is it part 48/49/50 which could then come from a Spit? Seems odd that I can buy for a Spit. Are they the same?

  6. Hi guys

I would greatly appreciate help on the two pictures:

One picture is showing a bolt for the seat support. Can you tell me what bolt your using for holding the seat in?

Second shows a missing lever which I was wanting to replace, can anyone advise on this, ie has anyone replaced these levers?

Thanks from the new owner in Denmark!

  7. Hi guys

TR6 back safe in Denmark from a 500k pickup from Bremerhavn.

All went well and the tips on lashing wheels (all four) and especially the one on having a brake on when levelling were most useful. I have towed many times before in my Army days but never loaded and drive a TR6 and car trailer, so the tips were great.

The car is a runner but does need work, most important thing is NO RUST and engine turns. Overall it looks good but few little things.

a . . bit hard to get in gear . . maybe I need to learn to drive a 70s car again!

    b. ... cant get blower on windscreen to work. Possible user error!

    c. . . windscreen wipers seem to have a mind of their own.

Looking forward to a long love affair

  8. Ok

So I have a long drive with a car trailer to get my TR6 tomorrow but would like a bit of urgent advice.

    1. Getting onto car trailer. Does the TR6 have a front towing eye? Is it easy accessible and if no towing eye, advice on winching?? Note, car trailer is a tilting trailer.

    2. Securing to trailer. I have 4 x new winch straps rated to 2.5k each. Plan was crossover on front and rear axles. Sound good?

    Thanks for help

  9. May I ask why your doing this? I understand the technical why's, but do you in any way feel this is a steady road to modernising the car and it then losing it 'classicness'?

I in an odd way like the old concept . .

  10. Hi

Being an ex electrons apprentice I plan to go direct to battery and fuse it. Like idea of putting on H frame too. My main weapon of choice is an iPhone6 for both nav etc and will be the main power demand (less for beer chiller behind seat ;-))

  11. Hi

So I am sure the guy I bought my TR off in Canada is a decent and respectable bloke. He has done 'service' but what he has/has not done I am unsure.

So here goes, what are the top 5/10 things you would do, on this car which is apparently running and I'd like to run over Summer and slowly, as and when restore better.

Car was pretty much standing for 6-7 years and is driving etc. Just wanted feedback on what you'd check, change. I have a new sump gasket for an oil drop and plan oil/filter change. Will check brakes etc but again, appreciate any insider tips.

    Cheers

    Rich

  12. Yes, seems in early models it was not standard and many dealers fitted them if asked . . but guess back then we all carried matches and zippo! So H frame I think is the place - - guess I need to be patient and see it

  13. Hi, yes, I know the term fag has a differing meaning for our friends over the pond!

    Anyway . .

TR6 inbound from US - -3 weeks to go!

So me being a electronics nerd, was curious if the TR6 has a cigarette lighter in it and if so where?

Also, with this world of GPS and all the other cumudgins we plug in now, how to most manage all of this in an old car?

    Just courious
