Non vented cap??? When I fitted a new alloy cover, I used a non vented TR4 cover and cap. My crank case vent was, and still is, directed to a catch tank beside the battery. The catch tank vented to the rear air cleaner. Next time on the track and after about 2 laps (short 2K circuit ) I became a smoke screen. Back in the pits I found the oil level down about 2 litrs and the catch tank full. Removed the rocker cover cap, and fixed with a zip tie, I fitted a Chux, wipe. Finished the remainder of the meet without issues. Back home I fitted a separate rocker cover breather fed to the catch tank. That was about 10 - 12 years ago and have never needed to drain the catch tank since. So does the engine need a rocker breather???? Mine did. At leased when driven hard. I always drove to the track and I had no troubles on the way down, about 150mls.
Jenvey throttle bodies Brian ?

Mike I fitted a couple of classic looking interior light over the door openings of my 3a hardtop - thought I’d add the wiring whilst doing the refurb and headlining.
but I only have them switched at the light unit. And a makeshift plug to aid hardtop removal.
I have the bulb version ( rather than LED so they may be better now. -

Healey 4000
I see you've already got a big hitter lined up for the ongoing thread in Alec's Inn, Hamish.
Might take a while to get to that one.
Ha ha I was going to wait for the Peugeot 2008 range but the Healey 4000 is very aspirational on that thread.

Hi I had never heard of this model until recently
I bet you guys can fill in the gaps.
the talk of a twin cam 300bhp version would have been very exciting.

Sounds like a job for a bearing sealant locktight

Not done this. But I did let my hgv class 1 lapse and wished I hadn’t.
as you say once gone ……7.5 tonnes like trailer use is useful occasionally

Well Graham, that’s certainly a sad state and you need answers. Typically such failure is a lack of oil or too tight a tolerance on a new build.
what is clear is that you will certainly need to trip everything and a thorough clean as any of that swarf debris needs to be removed or you will be back in the same boat on any part rebuild.
wouldn't wish this catastrophe on anyone. Good luck with the new build.

That’s a proper skinny lightweight flywheel.
is it a high performance engine ? -

Hi Hamish,
Yes I have a bunch - I'll dig them out and post some.
My profile pic here, FYI, is taken on the Top of the World highway between Yukon and Alaska on the Alcan 5000 rally back in 2014. That's Jan leaning against the TR looking out at the clouds in the valley below.

Or just leave it and drive it

No connection. Just thought it’s a nice car to just get on and use at a fair price

Well I guess the club can work out how many that would involve thus the cost to the club and decide if it’s a good way to celebrate the 55 years.
as a member I’d be happy to acknowledge the club and more importantly the early members.

A bit American though. Surely for a UK club that should be a 'two-bob' ?
Great marketing idea Rob.
that could be the club subs for the year for any members who joined in the clubs first 5 years

We can make a big deal of it when it’s an interesting number
55 the double nickel sounds like an opportunity

you need full instructions from the engine builder. Has the initial “fast” running for the cam been done - often 20mins as 2k rpm on the first run of the engine.?
as to general running in. As above get the choke in as soon as the engine runs with out it
and do an number of heat cycles in your 400 mile eg 6 separate run outs. And after 100mikes don’t be too cautious with the revs lots of short bursts and not just sustained constant motoring.
like I say ask the engine builder
this was one of my early running in runs
And this was less that 700miles on the new engine and after “1st service” and head check.

I have used these for a few seasons now and no complaints, free revving and well balanced and the bores are good.
a better option than 60 year old originals imho.
