The parts catalogues May seen good but lead to a near uniformity of prices with less scope for shopping around.

The jumbles were using the catalogue and price lists.

I guess this is too small an issue for referral as creating a near monopoly.

It’s the info model history / changes and diagrams etc that I find interesting with the catalogues .
i go to the web for prices.
little point in comparing between the two from now on.

I'll be on site for my usual buggy driving for those with mobility issues …….

so hopefully I will bump into some of you

    Cheers Rich Crewe-Read

If you didn’t need mobility assistance before you will after

    :lol::D;)

    sorry Rich, couldn’t resist.

have a great event everyone - one day I’ll make it - just as my mum and dad did back in the day - the first time round.

  3. I really don’t see this as being good news for all the comments above on competition, quality and future proofing.
i know some see Rimmer as supplier of last resort but will moss now be forced to sink to the lowest common denominator?

Even Revington is, I understand selling his spares business and couldnt see the 2023 sponsorship deal through to supplying the end of year awards sad after so many years support being the sole sponsor.

fingers crossed that the smaller independents can capitalise on this.

i know some of the folk who do the clubs speed championship use magnetic number backgrounds that my be of some use.
perhaps demon tweeks or somewhere similar could help.

biggest anti rattle on the tr3 bonnet is securing the bonnet stay tightening the hinge nut and a good securing rubber.

  5. In light of johns BT problems I’d thought I’d share this scam caller number that I received today - it was  a BT internet scan call

I like to keep these people chatting ( on the basis that if they are talking to me they are not talking to someone “even more” vulnerable than me) before letting them know that my internet is provided via my employer - Greater Manchester Police

they then seem to disappear - how rude.

  6. If you have or can borrow a tyre inflator eg a 12v emergency type you can try pressurising the fuel line from the engine bay fuel pump to the tank. Worked for me at a race meeting.

Partial blockage issue turned out to be a small section of rubber pipe near rear axle joining  the 2 metal pipes from the tank had deteriorated.

Have to say I've gone over to Valvoline 20/50 VR1, gives better oil pressure reading when hot (and very hot!) and for some reason burns less

    +1 from me......

    Same here +1

the above is a good starting point for chokes and jets etc but a starting point, all cars seem different and rolling road time is needed imo to get things right

i won’t share mine as it would just muddy the waters as I have 45’s on mine and it’s a slightly warmed up 89mm now.

but I would say the SU’s are just wonderful on my last engine which was an old tuned 87mm  setup with H6 and long later intake manifold they were set and forget. With about 120hp at the flywheel.

i tried tinkering around at the edges to improve things and loved the look of the webers but found you need to do the whole hog to find performance

i now have around 160 + hp and 45 webers that I have had to try and learn via putting out a fire and had the rear carb flood to scary degrees due to the modern floats sticking when car left un used for a while.
    all good now.

I don’t have the start choke system, a few throttle pumps and it starts well.
its tickover is great at around 800

and deals with traffic well but the pure joy is full throttle on and off.

my question is do you REALLY need the webers ??!!

    on the road with 45’s

on track a few days later

And just to be fair the old engine and SU’s

I tried one - it didn't work at all well. I think the problem was getting a vacuum seal around the bleed-nipple threads.

I did this job today and I had the same issue of sucking air and not a great flow of fluid. Tried grease around the threads to seal them off.

i ended up keeping the vacuum trigger on AND pressing the brake peddle and it worked well for brakes and clutch.

some horrid grey fluid came out do over due a fluid change.

took a litre of this stuff so I know it’s all new and I have a great firm brake peddle before and now.

    Ah the higher ferry …..

a crossing that I have done sooo many times.  Even drove the old ferry as a kid !! Different times :o

  12. Malc as you are in Oz what temps are you enjoying !

my car fluctuates between the mid 185 and the next mark which is I think about 207f (where my elec fan cuts in) which is 85 to 97c  so still not boiling even without factoring in the pressure (4 to 7 psi) which will raise the boiling point .

But always worth flushing if not done for awhile.
and don’t forget bobs point about the card or sometimes retrofitted ali duct in the front apron is part of the original design
