Hi Waldi,
Poor installation on my part. The seal will take significantly more pressure than 100 psi. Never had a problem before on previous cars with 100 psi pressure. Cold oil so the PRV would restrict flow out to sump, allowing the high pressure to be seen (delta P).

Exactly at this stage too. Initially turned it over with plugs in. No pressure after several seconds. Removed the plugs and the high torque starter motor span over much, much faster. Within 5 seconds the oil pressure was 100 psi, even with a bad leak from the oil filter seal at the block interface.
I used the original oil pump as the 3 new ones I checked had much larger clearances, which would result in reduced displacement and therefore pressure.

Hi Waldi,
Providing you have the windscreen angle correct the fitment is straightforward and as leak tight as a standard soft top. As Andrew has stated, the windscreen capping is different. Revington TR do a unique H frame that fits onto the TR6 soft top header rail and locks on as per standard soft top levers. However, you have to remove the header rail from your soft top frame (grind off 2 large rivets) or get an old Spitfire MK1V frame.
If you want to drive in comfort over 50 mph the Surrey conversion is fantastic. I repeat it's not for everybody.

I fitted the honeybourne rear back light to my last 2 TR6 cars. Appreciate they are not to everyone's taste but I think they look great and the difference to wind turbulence in the cabin is startling. I highly recommend them. You can change the windscreen capping or use the Revington TR style H frame that utilises the TR6 capping.
Please feel free to ask any further questions as I am now on my third HM backlight but this one for a TR5.
If you want, HM will supply without window and seals so you can paint it body colour and then fit seal and window. I live 15 miles away so it was easy for me logistically.

My experience is that the cv shaft hits the chassis when you disconnect the shock absorber. I would be concerned that the shock obsorber is restricting wheel movement during driving. It maybe fine but worth checking.
I guess it depends on the spring free length as to if you have to remove the cv joint. I could almost get mine in but I had to remove cv shaft completely.

Roger is correct. The cv joint won't allow the trailing arm to drop enough. I've just done it so it's fresh in my mind. You need to remove the cv joints. Main nut and the four on the diff. Easy enough. It took just over an hour to swap both springs.

I'm afraid you need to remove the cv joint each side. I got supplied the incorrect springs so I know exactly your dilemma. There's no way around it. You should also replace the cv nuts too as they have a metal locking tab in the thread that would have been compromised.

Chris,
It's a solid car but has fibre glass wings. I guess it's priced about right. It's only been for sale for a few weeks though.

Should go inside the rear valance and out of a hole on the centre line of the rear bumper

Waldi,
Check the thermostat isn't stuck. I had the same issue with hot engine and cold radiator after rebuild.

Dave,
The one I have is in full working condition and excellent aesthetically. See attached.

Steve,
It is unf but probably only screws in 10-12 mm.

Hi Dave,
The one I have is still available. Also going to the show.
Thanks,

Hi Mark,
How's the conversion coming on?
I have a couple of clamps if you still need one.
All the best,

LHD version is shorter due to its different location on the bulkhead. You must fit the correct length rod.

Hi Conrad,
Do you have powder blue seats then? Definitely interested in that combination.
The big cost is the seats. I need carpet and trim anyway, regardless of colour.
Always open to suggestions.
HNY to you too.

Hi Andy,
It should be white with red interior. The project car came with very nice matador red seats but i have changed the car colour to royal blue. Blue and red are not listed as a match. I am going to proceed and see how it looks. If I don't like it, I'll have to change it down the line.

Classic Car LED sell the non polarity led bulb and the flasher relay. The flasher relay even makes the traditional clicking sound.
Perfect solution for less than £15.

Hi,
Can someone confirm the correct red colour for the carpet set with a matador red interior please? Damask red is readily available - would that be OK?
Thanks,
Colin

In the process of a TR5 restoration. It will definitely be royal blue. The interior is my quandary. I have a lovely pair of original seats in red with white piping. Has anybody used this combination and photos would be well received.
Thanks,

The dimmer is really redundant. I have fitted leds and taken the gauges apart and painted the casing white inside. They are better but you wouldn't want to dim them! A useful upgrade is a led green bulb for the indicator light in the Speedo. You can get one that isn't polarity sensitive so it works in both indicator directions. It makes it much easier to see on a sunny day.

New oil pump not pumping?
in TR6 Forum
Posted
Waldi is correct. The pump will deliver oil at displacement x rpm. The pressure is generated by the resistance in the system. With the prv removed you should see most of the oil there as this is the easiest route for the oil to travel. This is assuming the oil pump is OK. If the clearances are excessive, this will reduce flow rate proportionally to tolerances.
