I have sent a fair bit of railing, fencing, steel frame off for hot-dip galvanising. Yes OK slight bit heavier but then, for fencing, no need to paint so weight probably the same. They will not take thin steel as it will warp in the heat and hollow sections need drain holes. Finished product always seems harder to drill and cut than pre-galv must be the heat. I did restore my deere tractor and sent the body panels off for electric galvanising and they came beautiful and shiny before the powder coat.

As Mike above, seems OK at that price, but it is all about the metal and rust that is where the money goes.
Do not buy without getting down, under if possible, and having a really good poke at the chassis and body panels.
Don't believe what you are told look for yourself.

I heard Rob Brydon has purchased a TR, lets hope he joins the club.

You mentioned the car dying when you pressed the accelerator. The only thing that really changes is the centrifugal bob weights which adjust the ignition timing. As the bob weights move out they cause the base plate of the points to rotate which adjusts the ignition timing. On the base plate inside the distributor there is a two inch long earth wire that completes the electrical circuit for the points. After fifty years of flexing that may have cracked causing a break in the circuit as the base plate rotate at higher revs. it is worth a quick look.

There are a few BMW engined TR6's with different engines. Here is a link to one

Not the same but....
I used to live near a cucumber grower, he had two packaging lines, one for M&S and one for the rest of his customers. The M&S specification and inspections really did result in differing products, even from the same plant.
So perhaps your oil filters have different specifications. Buy one of each and open them up. A worthwhile experiment for a tenner.

I looked and noted A&A & RAC only have GB plates still.

I dont believe there is normally a hole there.
The manifold / plenum slopes downwards at the rear. In use the exhaust gases condense and form a nasty corrosive liquid which rots through the metal eventually. Is the hole you have a drain hole at the bottom?
...and welcome to the club.

Z320,
Agree Fenner belt is great I carry a couple of metres in my cars just in case. I also use it on my self propelled lawn mower, it is just so handy to have about when a belt snaps.

I had similar smells of fuel and spent some time tracking, sealing renewing to no noticeable result.
Then bought a couple of metres of elastic and stretched around the boot lid and tied a foot of wool evevy six inches to the elestic across the boot lid and went for a drive. Once the car reached about thirty mph the centre telltales of wool reversed direction and were blown forwards towards the cockpit as the square rear of the car created a backdraught. My twin sports exhausts passed the exhaust gases directly into this forward moving airstream. Cost less than a fiver to test.
A went to Phoenix Exhausts and bought a mid & rear section of exhaust in which the exhaust is in the original NS position and the fumes no longer enter the car.

Odd to have only a lap & diagonal belt. I would have thought side windows to keep the dust out when following off-road, and a very deep sprung seat for "personal" protection combined with more suspension travel.

If you can't find a pipe why not silver solder a cupro nickel pipe between the banjos?

Nigel,
Yes that is the purpose of the charge, to deter cars in the centre. Then it will be extended to areas with high pollution levels. You will be allowed to drive your car, it will be that you just cannot justify the expense.

John,
Agreed no contact. Unfortunately the aerodynamics of the F1 cars result in the trailing car running slower until a suitable separation between the cars and consequent less disturbed air. Overtaking is therefore restricted to slower corners, of which Silverstone has few, or "going for it" which you don't recommend. So a procession it is then.
Slower cars and twisty circuits much better racing. I believe is should be about the driving not technology on the ragged edge and mega budgets.

Two is better than one, and these are good.

Surely the root of the problem is a circuit with limited overtaking possibilities with evenly matched cars and drivers, and the whole F1 industry pushing for drama and excitement not processions.
Exploring the limits is the only choice left to both a following driver and also the defending driver.
If the drivers can't accept that there will be incidents then they don't deserve the salary.

Roger & James,
Thank you both.

Roger,
This triggered my memory. Sorry slight deviation
I followed your thread on gearbox selector rod oil leaks and you fitted Quad O rings as I recall. Did they stop the leak?

Peter,
Surely the place to burn ethanol, methane from biodigesters, wood pulp and use solar, wind, nuclear or whatever is not in millions of ICE's but in centralised power stations where emissions can be better controlled and probably with greater efficency.
So how do we power our cars, lawn mowers, chain saws etc.? Rationally it has to be by electricity or a derivative of electricity production such as hydrogen.
But I'm no lover of using a massive percentage of the energy provided to the current crop of electric vehicles toting heavy batteries around the planet.

Wouldn't the problem be with re-coating that you might seal the cover and prevent it wicking the moisture off the panels?

Allmost no brakes after adjusting rear brakes

Obviously there could be a coincidental fault but most likely you have made an error of some sort whilst working on the rear brakes.
Did you remove the handbrake cable from the drums whilst working on the adjustment? It is possible to have the cable hold the shoes out in a false "off" position.
The shoes need to return off pushing the slave back as far as the adjuster will allow. Then fit and adjust the handbrake cable.
