Hi all,
My car didn't have the front bulkhead sealer plates fitted under the wings when I bought it. This is due to the fact that there is no longer anything to bolt the plates to, as the extension of the front bulkhead both sides has long since rotted away and is now flush. The remaining panel is solid albeit patched in a few small areas.
My question is has anyone got a template or drawing to show the dimensions of the bulkhead extension? I am hoping to remake this panel for both sides. It would also be good to see a photo of how it should look too.
Kind regards

Hi Les
That sounds promising, I did read on their webpage that they are happy to make changes to existing products or use you old tank as a pattern. Please let me know how you get on. I haven't got an original pattern tank but would be interested if they are well made, 12.5 gallon and the same design (not asking for much really lol). Do they have the internal baffles too?
Thanks for your feedback
Kind regards

Les I may well come over and see your body tub, I cannot believe the amount of metal work you have done to get your shell rebuilt, you amaze me.

Hi All,
I am looking to buy a new 12.5 Gallon Fuel tank for my '55 TR2. I made enquiries with Andy Wiltshire at Axminster but unfortunately Andy has orders to April 2017 and he is then going to cease manufacture of TR2-TR6 fuel tanks.
His Email response follows.....
"Hello Adrian,
Thank you for your email.I am going to have to let you down here I'm afraid. We are unable to get any stock together due to ongoing orders and are booked up until April next year. There is just myself and my wife and we are trying to run our business rather than it running us (working too many hours etc). We have recently taken some difficult decisions with regards to the direction of our business and we have decided that we will no longer be making the TR2 through to TR6 fuel tanks. There is a reasonable amount of work involved with them and without sounding too mercenary, there is very little profit to be made. Our website will be updated this week.Apologies for any inconvenience caused.Does anyone know where I can buy a new and correct tank? All the pictures I see are the slightly different TR3a tank.
I also require correct tank straps, anyone got a pair they wish to sell?
Kind regards

Hi all,
Does anyone have any really clear pictures showing how the closing panels fit together. It appears some of mine are missing. I am replacing boot floor and spare wheel well so it seems sensible to address this at the same time.
The car has a later TR3a rear apron which I intend to keep, will this affect any of the closing panels I need?
I noted that there appear to be two versions of the boot lining panels (L&R), one is a two piece panel without any drilled holes for mounting, the other is described as 'pressed' and is dearer - Rimmer site.
Which is best?
Kind regards

I added a couple of other used items to the photo album
1 x Pair of Chrome Headlight rims (screw type TR2/3) Used condition with a small amount of pitting but they would definitely go again - £12 pair
1 x Pair of Headlight Mounting Rims (4 parts in total) Used condition but they would definitely go again - £15 pair
2 x Rear Tail Light Unit L549 (just the base, no screws/lenses/gaskets etc) - £15 Pair
I could possibly post out some of the smaller items at cost (UK Only)
Kind Regards

I am selling a few of the bits removed from my TR2 (which was impersonating a TR3a), I thought I would offer on here prior to putting them on an auction site. Collection only from Stoke-on-Trent M6 Jcn15 or you can arrange your own courier.

1 x TR3a Front Apron Badge (Blue/ White) - Used condition, chrome is pitted/mottled, comes with two push on clips for mounting pins - £15
1 x TR3a Post TS60000 Boot Lid with raised hinge plinths - Excellent rust free condition, no damage. Comes complete with internal tubular frame but doesn't include boot handle or stay - £350 Ono

Hi Damage
It's certainly a mixture of parts there.
The small mouth from t apron could have been from a very early TR2 which had the cable release for the bonnet?
It has the vent flap on the front scuttle (no knob inside to pull it open but the hole is there)
There is a small ID plate on the passenger side under bonnet, what does this say?
Are there any small ID plates above the battery under all that black paint/underseal?

Cheers Ian, I could be a bit tight or you could be abit slack lol ;-)
On another note, the rubber seal which fits into the groove in the boot rain channel.... Mine is glued in place and the rubber seal bit angles outwards over the rain channel. In doing this, the nuts from the boot lid hinges both sides crush it and the boot lid flexes a bit when closed. Is this correct, it doesn't seems right?

Thanks for this info, much appreciated. My '55 TR2 currently has a 3a rear apron and a 3a boot lid (post 60k with plinths) but it has a standard pre 60k rear deck. The car is going for a bare metal repaint so it's a good time to swap out the incorrect boot lid (I'm keeping the apron as I like the idea of separate indicators/brake lights in modern traffic). The 3a boot lid is excellent and rust free (I will be selling this shortly), I have bought a reasonable original TR2 boot lid which I will get the body shop to fit, it does want a bit of fettling, too wide at the rear.
My measurements are front 1195mm and rear 1123mm approx.
Kind regards

Yes, I believe so, it was used on Spitfires/GT6/Stag and TR6's.

Hi all
Could anyone tell me what the width (top and bottom) of the boot lid opening should be on a 1955 TR2 please? I realise there will be a bit of 'wiggle factor'
(I'm talking across the outer edges of the rain channel each side)
Kind regards

Hi
I am looking to get my TR2 long neck original radiator refurbished. It's leaking so a re-core is in order and clean/paint (probably eliminate the crank handle hole).
Can anyone recommend anywhere that would do this in the Midlands - close to Stoke-on-Trent if possible?
Is this the best way to go or is buying a new radiator a better option? What are the costs involved?
Kind Regards

Hi All, I'm after a bit of advice...
I have removed the engine from my TR2 as it is having a full respray including engine bay. Whilst the engine is out I am going to take the opportunity to get the cylinder head converted to unleaded (plus other jobs).
I believe the U/L conversion involves fitting hardened valve seats, is this just to the Exhaust valve seats or all? To do the work the valve guides are removed and replaced? Do I need to replace the valves if they are not damaged?
I am trying to understand what needs replacing as I have asked a few places over the phone and they want to replace valves, valve springs, valve guides.
The engine is a standard early TR4 unit fitted in 1975 and has done 28k miles.

Hi John
I am currently having a full body off restoration and bare metal respray completed by a company near me in Staffordshire. I appreciate it's quite a distance from Suffolk but the work these guys do is first class and they are very helpful. Detail and quality is what they are all about at competitive rates. You can take a look on their website or their Facebook page where you will find lots of photos and reviews plus their contact details.
