Hi Stuart, you are probably right so I might try that corex board (plastic carboard) that estate agents boards are made of, saves the time shaping it and more robust

Hi, my visor innards (1962) have also disintegrated, I'm going to attempt a repair with some kingspan cut and sanded to suit. Don't know how to fit and finish yet but thats half the fun. I will post if successful

Hi all, I am thinking of fixing some soundproofing to the underside of the bonnet to reduce noise and drumming, Anyone done this? If so what material and what fixing as it can get quite hot.

Hi all, I want to clean up my ally trim but it is pitted so doesn't look too good, I was thinking of sand blasting it (fine sand) and then giving it a coat of 2 pack clear, anyone done this or is there another method to clean the annodised ally trim.

Hi all, I need to replace a cracked outrigger, I was going to make it myself and insert a smaller tube inside to strengthen the joint, has anybody got the size pipe I need for this job ?

As previously mentioned lots of hammer, blowlamp and effin and jeffin required in this area (and all the others) but you will get there, as for the colour, mine was red and I felt i needed to keep it that colour but I always wanted a BRG one so green it will be
(remember that conversation Stuart)good luck

Hi Graham, I am going for an electric pump, not original I know but I want to keep all the wet out of the car and I want to keep joints in the plenum to a minimum hence a short piece of pipe into the engine bay and all the rest of the joints accessible. I can't see any problems with this but as usual I will take any advice thats on offer.

Hi Pete, I was just looking at the washers, I assume the pipe run follows the wiper pipe and exits the plenum by the wiper motor is this correct? I think I will take the plastic pipe out the plenum local to each one and do the joints in the engine bay, anything wrong with this approach ?

Hi Pete, I've fitted a new loom but left it loose in case I need some slack when connecting up the electrics, the wiper wheel boxes are very fiddly so I gave them a good service as I imagine changing one would be a nightmare. I am just wary as I said of creating problems if things don't go in in the right order.

Hi all, I am about to assemble the dashboard etc. and I need the correct sequence so that I don't have to take something out to put something else in. I assume the wiper stuff first then the heater then the dash and then feed the steering column through but I thought I would ask for advice first to save filling up the swear box !

Hi Tom, My first thoughts were to build up with weld and then grind down to suit but I was hoping for an ingenius solution that maybe involved washing up bottles and double sided tape , but it looks as though the welder is back in use.

Hi all, the carb bell crank is worn on my car which results in too much movement in the system, I see that they are no longer available so does anybody have a repair. The wear is on the male to female pivot.

Hi all, could someone let me know where the solenoid fits, I have found 2 suitable captive nuts just below the steering column on the firewall, are these them ?

Hi all, I have just fitted my gearbox and thought my solution might be useful. After struggling trying to get the spline entered with a lot of jiggling I removed the box and had a think. The problem seemed to be there wasn't much forgiveness in the end of the spline and the disk, so I took a grinder ( I know! ) and put a small shoulder on the end of each spline ( careful there ). I put the gearbox back in place and with a bit of a jiggle it went home. It went in so sweet I thought there must be something wrong ! I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I hope it helps.

Hi all, I'm putting the pedals back in my car, looks pretty straight forward although awkward, but is there anything else in that area that needs to go in first like the wiring loom or the steering column etc? I don't want to install the pedals and then find it awkward to put something else in that confined space hopefully I want to learn from previous experience.

Hi all, thanks for the replies, I will re-pipe without it.
As for fitting the servo, I could use the old excuse, my wife will drive the car at times etc. etc. but the truth is at this stage in life I want to have an easy and uneventful time as poss so I am adding as many upgrades as I can.
But in a nod to the original spec I am going to attempt to start the engine initially, on the original plugs and coil just to see if they can still fire up and then I will change to the latest spec. Just a quirk but then so is attempting to rescue a pile of rust and turn it into a roadworthy car, I love it!

Hi all, I am renewing all the brake lines on a TR4 and have taken off the restrictor valve, I read somewhere that these are not always fitted and I notice they are not available from Moss. I am fitting a servo so is the restrictor necessary and if so where can I get one ?

Hi all, I am refurbing the brakes on my TR4, I have got new hoses but I am unsure where they enter the calipers if they need a seal. It looks like it needs a copper washer seal but as I haven't got the old ones I studied the various parts catalogues but there is no mention of a seal.
Also which clips are the best/easiest to use, the push into a hole type or the p-shaped ones that need a self-tapper ?

Hi Mike , I have tried that on another repair and thought that if I contain the foam it would be more dense but it was squidging out everywhere through the gaffer tape and it wasn't dense enough, gave my other half a laugh though as I was trying to plug the leaks !
I think 2 sausages to block the sun might look cool.
