  1. Hi everybody, recently I have been experiencing some unusual cooling problems with 'Troy', my 1970 CP TR6. He runs fairly well (given the current high ambient temperatures),at just over half way on the temp gauge at low speeds & in traffic, but give him any 'welly' (to use the technical term),the needle on the gauge goes up to around the three quarters point. I'm running a recently (last week) re-cored rad,a Kenlowe fan, with no major engine mods,& the fanbelt isn't slipping. I've flushed the engine with Holts 'speedflush', & the water comes out clean as a whistle. I'm now thinking it could be the water pump; Any thoughts..? Best wishes, Paul.

  2. Hi, I fitted an oil cooler to my TR6, & from my best recollection it adds about a litre to the oil capacity; After changing the oil and starting the engine for the first time, the level drops from the top to the bottom notch on the dipstick. It's just a point of topping up again;after this you shouldn't have to think about the cooler again,'til the next oil change(as long as the cooler & its' pipes are 'oil-tight'). Enjoy your '6'!, best wishes, Paul.

  3. Hi Tim, many motor factors sell a very neat magnetic GB plate, roughly 1.75'' x 3",& oval in shape. This will fit quite tidily below the number plate(where it will also be illuminated by the no.plate lamp on your CP ;)),or,just as smart- between the rear lamp n/s unit & bootlid;like the 'Triumph' badge on the o/s. Enjoy Spa! All the best, Paul.

  4. Another question relating to early TR6s.... Are any still runing with the 'Ro-Style'(TR5) type wheel trims? I've been going to IWEs & Stoneleigh every year since 2008,& I,ve never seen a '6 with them fitted. Could I be the only sad case  who actually likes these items....!?

  5. Hi everybody. The battery earth lead on my 1970 TR6pi is looking a bit frayed. Access to the engine end of this lead appears to be restricted by the metering unit. What's the best way of changing this lead? I've thought of lifting the MU/Dizzy/pedestal assembly off the engine;is this strait forward, or would I be opening a can of worms? Thanks, Paul.
