scv
HiI've got a TR4 and looking to change the fan belt. It has the original pulleys and is running with a dynamo. The belt that I've got and the previous one is non cogged and marked as 20 x 900 LI.The problem is that even with full adjustment there is about 3/4" play in the longest part. Is this too much? The edges of the belt seems to wear a lot more than it shoud leaving fine rubber bits on the timing cover. Is this the correct size belt and is 3/4" too much? If the belt stretches than there is no more adjustment to be made. Steve
RAHTR4
Hi Steve, The original fan belt size is as follows : 975 O/D 900 I/D 20 wide top 12 deep 12 wide base The Owners Handbook states "Pivot the generator until the belt can be moved 3/4" to 1" at its longest run" Maybe the belt that is fitted is getting old and past it best and thus shedding some material. scv
Thanks for the reply Richard. The belt I have on there at the moment has only been on for about 18 months and was bought about a year before that so no too old. I'll order another though and fit that. The last belt went the same way, wearing on the sides. I've checked the pulleys and they don't seem damaged and all are in alignment. Thanks again Steve
