JJC
The vinyl roof on my Surrey top 4 has decided to start coming adrift. The centre metal strip that tucks under the windscreen keeps flipping up. I did fiddle with the metal frame so maybe I've caused it. The hood itself is very tight to fit almost impossible with arthritic hands. Any ideas how to fix it? JJC
RogerH
Hi JJC, if you are happy with the gap on the frame cap then you will need to fit a wider piece of metal strip in the front of the roof fabric. This may not be easy as the pocket is probably not big enough to take a wider strip. You may need to do some stitching etc. Or pop rivet a wider strip to the existing strip on the outside of the pocket. The vinyl has probably shrunk over the years. If you warm it up (as warm as possible) fitting should be possible. You need to keep it fitted when the car is not being used - this will keep it stretched to the correct size. JJC
Roger thanks for your reply. The soft top is about three years old. The metal strips are original. Maybe the gap has expanded a bit. It doesn't look like the greatest way of fitting the front of a soft top. JJC
