Fireman049
My 1960 3A is fitted with a DR3A wiper motor. Is this a two speed motor? Tom.
AlanT
The vast majority of DR3A motors are single speed. There are a couple of two-speed variants, one got fitted to the 4A. Any DR3A can be easily modified to get the same two-speed operation as the 4A. The problem is to get the right kind of 3-position switch. An alternative method is to use the existing switch for on/off and add another switch for speed selection.
Fireman049
Thank you for that Alan ~ I think I'll leave it as it is. Cheers ~ Tom.
AlanT
The two-speed ones have wires coming out not push-on contacts. Whilst this is on your mind, undo the long bolts, pull the end-cap off and inspect the carbon-blocks. If these wear down the commutator will get wrecked. https://www.flickr.com/photos/90670218@N04/13289258624/ This may look OK but only has a few thou of copper left and is more or less scrap.
