Snetterton Swinging Sixties Race Day 2019

Snetterton Swinging Sixties Race Day 2019

Sunday April 7th- Snetterton Swinging Sixties Race Day
A very misty start to the day. 8 TR members arrived at 9am to collect concession tickets - very kindly given to us by TR racing member Dave McDonald racing his blue TR6, number 78.

Dave did very well in qualifying in the late morning race in atrocious weather conditions, but unfortunately, his TR6 blew a head gasket. There were 3 other TRs racing. His TR6 mods:-

Brief details of race engine spec.

1.All steel reciprocating internals.

2.Harmonic crank damper

3.Gas flowed cylinder head with larger valves

4.High lift cam running in bearing shells

5.Roller rocker gear

6.Bespoke 6 – 3 – 1 exhaust manifold

7.Triple 45 DCOE carbs on TWE manifold

8.Electric water pump

9.Small lightweight radiator

10.Gearbox is straight cut dog box

11.Diff is low ratio with Salisbury LSD

12.Front brakes – Wilwood 4 pot calipers with 12" dia vented rotors

During the course of the day, Dave had difficulty in getting the old gasket off & renewing with a new one - he was once more on the grid in 6th place & most of the members stayed till the end to support our TR drivers.

Unfortunately Dave's TR6 blew the head gasket again in the second lap and he had to retire.

During the course of the day our TR member's turnout had increased to 14 and despite the weather conditions we all have a good day out.
