TR Lincs June 2018 Report

They say you should never start with an apology but I have been a little slow getting the June report out. I do have an excuse of course having only returned from the TR Lincs trip to Northern Spain. Read more about that trip later in this report. In the meantime I look forward to seeing many of you at the International Weekend at Lincoln Showground at the end of the month. Keep an eye on our page of the TR Register Website to keep up to date on forthcoming events.

That's all from me for now - keep on TR'ing

27th May - Market Rasen

Glorious weather saw us all assemble at the car park at Tesco in Market Rasen for the start of a run kindly organised by Phil and Diane O'Hara. We all set off without any episode when in less than a mile poor old Dave McDonald's trusty "5" decided enough was enough. Several cars stopped to assist and as is always the case when two or more classic car enthusiasts combine, there are 99 reasons as to why the car won't go! Anyway after much fettling and use of Rimmer Bros mobile spares warehouse, aka Derek Pywell's boot, Dave was on his way. For those interested in such things it was the rotor arm to blame. Mind you that was after we'd changed the engine, swapped the gearbox and blown the tyres up. As luck would have it we all arrived together at the lunch venue and very nice it was too. Thanks again to the O'Hara's for organising a good day.

3rd June - Ludborough

The run started at Martin and Hilary Farley's home in Fulnetby where the assembled throng were treated to refreshments before setting off on an enjoyable run up through the wolds culminating at the Livesy Arms, Ludborough for lunch. Thanks to Martin & Hilary for organising the event.

8th - 19th June - TR Lincs Tour to Northern Spain

Our first foray into Spain as a group saw us all meet at the Friendly Farmer at Newark ready for the run down to Portsmouth for the ferry to Spain. Unfortunately we had a faller at the first hurdle with Andy and Veronica Parnham's "6" deciding it didn't want to go to Spain after all. Anyway after much debate, tinkering, dismantling, debate and more tinkering it was decided in great military fashion to leave the wounded behind and head off. Before you all say, how could you? Andy had organised the fastest recovery service ever and got the car recovered home, swapped cars and made it to Portsmouth with time to spare to catch the ferry. His TR6 toured Northern Spain heavily disguised as a Volvo! The story gave much amusement to our Spanish TR colleagues who looked after us very well and accompanied us on the early part of our tour, a big thank you to Javier Snr., Javier Jnr, Nacho for making us feel so welcome. Northern Spain was a great surprise and one I think we may well return to in the future. Coming Up

June 30th to July 1st - International Weekend, Lincoln

Firstly thanks to all those that have volunteered to assist in the running of this years event and you will know by now what you are doing and when. For the rest of you making the trip to Lincoln you will know all about what has been lined up over the 3 days so I shan't repeat it here, but in case you don't know what to expect then the full programme can be viewed by clicking on this link Programme.pdf. Just to remind you that a few of us are camping at the show ground over the weekend and will be setting up a TR Lincs area on the camping ground. If you are intending to camp then let me know and I'll look out for you. We will also be offering hospitality to TR Lincs members who would like a break away from the hustle and bustle at the TR Lincs camping area with Coffee, Tea, light refreshments and biscuits etc too! Make you way over to the camping area on Saturday between 4pm and 5pm and on Sunday between 3pm and 4pm, look out for the TR Lincs banner and we'll see you there.

July 22nd - TR Lincs BBQ

Our run will commence from the A1 Services at Gonerby Moor just north of Grantham where you can get coffee and refreshments before setting off. Aim to arrive by 10.30am for an 11.00am departure. We will then follow a pleasant route through the south of the county ending up at South Scarle for a BBQ picnic lunch. As in previous years please bring your own protein and drinks (meat, fish, vegetarian etc.) as accompaniments will be provided for you to fill your plate. In order to cater for numbers, or if you can't make the run but would still like to BBQ, could you please let me know if you will be joining us by emailing me at TRLincs@yahoo.co.uk before the 15th July.

August, September, October

We do not have any local runs arranged for these months so if you would like to volunteer to organise one then please let me know as soon as you can. It doesn't have to be fancy, just decide where to start and think of somewhere good to finish with maybe something to eat or an attraction to visit and there it is, done! The club at local level relies on members input and without that we would all simply sit at home, read TR Action and polish our cars and miss out on all the great camaraderie that owning a TR brings. Go on, don't be shy, you know you want to!
