Leicestershire TR Group help raise £1780 for the local Air Ambulance
What do 135 Ramblers and TR Owners have in Common?
They both enjoy good company, good food and good beer and the ability to raise an astonishing £1780 on the evening for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland (DLR) Air Ambulance Charity! An unlikely combination but one walks, the other drives between beer and meals!! Both depend upon the Air Ambulance when things go seriously wrong.
The Leicestershire TR Group (LTRG) and the Leicester and District Ramblers Groups (L&DRG) jointly organised an "all you can eat Indian buffet" at the Chef and Spice, Leicester. The Chef and Spice generously make a donation for everyone attending and the raffle did the rest. A splendid and fun evening was had by all. Paul Bonnet, DLR Volunteer accepting the cheque on behalf of the DLR Air Ambulance Charity from Howard Watmore, Vice Chairman, (LDRG) and Tony & Ruth Richards, LTRG. He thanked the groups for their significant contribution and outlined the enormity of the challenge to fund the Air Ambulance and Crew circa £10,000/day and £1750 per rescue. Typically the Air Ambulance responds to five emergencies per day 365 days of the year.
The LTRG thanked Tony and Ruth for organising a great evening out.
