Brill Classic Car Show

Our first visit to the Brill Classic Car Show, on Sunday 28th August, was a great success.

Nine KVG cars made the pleasant run through the Buckinghamshire countryside, and we then linked up with a similar number of Chilterns Group cars, to make a splendid display of Triumphs of all ages and models, with no other marque coming anywhere near this number.

The show was superb, with 363 cars stretching as far as the eye could see, and thanks to excellent organising by the marshalls, they were coming in all through the afternoon without disturbing the main area.

There were some quite remarkable cars on display, with something for everyone but of particular note was the 1925 Panhard Levassor, a huge beast of a car, with its own rear compartment for the passengers, or the rare genuine Mk1 Lotus Cortina, or the even more rare Consul Classic GT, or the massive Cadillac Convertible, or the Ford Anglia with a 5.7 litre V8 squeezed in, or the equally rare MG convertible saloon, or the Fiat 500 with an all-wickerwork interior, or a 1963 Alpha Romeo 2600, with a DOHC straight six, or the Mercedes C Class vinyl wrapped from its world circling fundraising trip, or the purple Dodge Challenger with colour-matched engine compartment, or the push-me pull-you double-ended Volvo, or the cute green Beetle, or the VW Karmann Ghia, or the homage to the Vincent car, or the beautiful Jensen 541R, and of course the odd Lamborghini thrown in for good measure

The show is part of the two-day Brill Festival, so there was live music in the evening for those who chose to stay, and an extensive Real Ale bar, though sadly we could not do justice to this.

But we all agreed we would definitely be back next year.
