Bristol Historic Docks Walk - 12th February 2017

It was a bitterly cold day for Glavon's guided walk around Bristol's historic docks conducted by Andy West, but there was much of interest to be seen. At the Underfall Yard, specialist guides explained the workings of the the docks' hydraulic power equipment, the sluices for controlling water levels and silt clearance, the 'Haul-Out Slip' complete with Cabot's replica The Mathew undergoing repairs, and the amazing time-warp workshops still used by the Docks Engineering Team, but containing much of the original Victorian and Edwardian tooling and line shafting.
