Paul Gibson writes: “Since the last report our events have come thick and fast. First off was July’s Sunday lunch kindly arranged by Mark and Jo; we met up for coffee at Bow Garden centre then a short drive to The New Inn at Sampford Courtney for an excellent meal.

First show of August was the Crash Box Historical Vehicle Gathering at Powderham Castle classic cars and steam engines a plenty although bargains at the auto jumble stalls seemed in short supply! Next off to a very hot Wadebridge Wheels where we met up with our friends from Cornwall - as always a great assortment of cars on display, including, in the cars for sale area, a 1954 TR2 for £18500 which didn’t seem too cheeky(!), given that it had some upgrades i.e. rack and pinion etc.

Up next was the RHS Rosemoor Vintage weekend, this is becoming a favourite on our calendar, if you display your classic, entry is free. The stunning gardens at Rosemoor never fail to impress and the weather turned out better than the Met office prediction. The next hot! outing we were off to the West Somerset Railway Association Steam Rally, meeting up with Somerset Triumphs at the Cross Keys pub car park then driving into the event on mass. We were briefly joined by a Jaguar E type owner who was out for a drive and stopped for a chat! It was so nice to catch up with friends for Somerset some who we had not seen since pre Covid. The WSRA steam rally has always produced a large turnout of classic cars, bikes, commercials and steam.

The cancellation of the Triumph MG weekend has left a hole in August which we hope to have filled with some picnic runs. These outdoor meetings can be arranged at short notice and if the weather changes, these arrangements can be adjusted at shorter notice, so please keep a watchful eye on your emails if you wish to attend.”
