At last! At the end of October, Derbyshire is finally catching up on the fine weather that the south of this country has been calling ‘summer’ for the last few months, a sunny spell which will probably last for all of a week or so. But….the autumn colours hereabouts are fabulous.
And, as this is the last report from the Derbyshire Dales Group before Christmas, please allow all of us here to wish all of you and yours out there a ‘Very Merry Christmas and a Propitious New TR Year’.
Meanwhile life in the Derbyshire Dales has been as busy as usual. Some of our members have recently returned from a long trip all around Spain to get to the Euromeet Weekend in Pamplona. This group was grounded for a short while by a major electrical problem on Roger Guy’s car, while Dave Burgess had to execute a quick gearbox change before setting out on the Pamplona trip - his Blue TR6 looked pretty tired after its 5000km saga on the Liège/Brescia/ Liège rally. But overall a very successful and enjoyable trip. For the rest of us, early October saw the Sunday ‘Last run of Season’ which called in at the Tagg Lane Dairy & Ice cream parlour, en-route to lunch at one of our Group’s old haunts, ‘The Miners’ Standard’. They had good weather – hence bucking a trend - with about a dozen TRs taking part.
Our annual Club Night quiz was organised by Dave Worne and Gwen Walvin this year, on the theme of confectionery, while a few days later about twenty of us embarked on an expedition to experience ‘The Last Night of the Autumn Proms’ at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. Transport by coach for most of the party meant that we didn’t have to be concerned about the need to drive, and a very good meal in the Charles Hallé restaurant preceded the concert. This was followed by the usual Proms concert of traditional classics with singing and flag-waving, all of which made for a rollicking evening. As was said about the trip; ‘and now for something completely different’.

Sunday 15th March: Photo Shoot in conjunction with the Leicester Group
Saturday 22nd August: TR Register 50th Anniversary Celebrations at the Manifold Inn, Hulme End, in conjunction with the Leicester, Lincolnshire & Nene Valley Groups
