Classic & Sports Tour of Cornwall 26th September 2021
From Windy Ridge to Cows & Sows. That sounds like the title of an American Western film. Not so. These were the start and finish points for the 2021 Classic & Sports Tour of Cornwall. Newquay Auto Club once again excelled in organising a superb 85 mile route through the roads and by-ways of East and Mid-Cornwall. The eclectic array of cars taking part included another splendid showing of the TR range. We left the start point at Windy Ridge Restaurant near Trerulefoot in sunshine and headed West in fine weather and only experienced any rain around Lanhydrock on our way to the midday pasty stop at Carlyon Bay. The afternoon leg took us around the lanes to the finish point at Cows & Sows at Idless Woods near Truro. Here a cream tea was waiting for us before the awards ceremony. Group Leader Pete Rugg arrived just in time to see his boys collect a fine selection of trophies. Pete Probst received the award for the Best 70s Car. Neither of Steve Malcolm’s TRs was available on the day, but he still went home in his new Morgan with the trophy for the Best Modern Car. Your webmaster was almost too embarrassed (not) to collect the Outright Winner’s trophy for the third time. If you are interested in where the run took us, try these place names: Trehunist, Quethiock, Menheniot, Lamellion, Scawn. Herodsfoot, Beara, Braddock, Cardinham, Fenton Pits, Tubb’s Mill, Ruan Lanihorne, Idless Vale. Our thanks go to Newquay Auto Club for inviting us and we look forward to the 2022 Tour.
