Chiltern TR Group - News 18th May 2023

Dear Friends
This coming Sunday is the picnic at the Walton Hall Hotel, is open to all and is completely free of charge. For those of you joining us for the run, here is a reminder of the arrangements. Others may choose to meet us there.
Sunday 21st May – The “Triumph Centenary” Picnic at the Mercure Walton Hall Hotel at Wellesbourne Warwickshire (Postcode CV35 9HG).
This is a relaxed “open invitation” event that is being organised by the Pre-1940 Triumph Motor Club to celebrate the 100th year of Triumph car production, it’s a free event and there is no need to pre-book. You just need to bring a picnic, a mug, a tea bag and a chair and be prepared to enjoy Richard’s superb home baked cakes (no pressure Richard!).
Refreshments will also be on sale on the day, in addition to there being a hog roast.
A number of us will be going and should you wish to join us, where we will be taking a cross country route to Banbury and then onward past Kineton to Wellesbourne, I would suggest the following timings and meeting points:
- a) 9:30am at Thame Esso Garage Services (departing from there at 9:35am).
- b) 9:45am at Oakley (Postcode HP18 9QF) in layby at junction of Bicester Road and Brill Road.
- c) 10:00am at The Bull Inn at Launton.
- d) *10:15am at Aynho.
- e) *10:20am at the Pickled Ploughman at Adderbury (just before the junction of the B4100 & A4260 Banbury Road).
- f) 11:00am arrive at the Mercure Walton Hall Hotel at Wellesbourne.
*Again and as with our Drive it Day outing, we will not be able to stop at these two locations - please simply join us as we drive by.
We have received an invitation to join members of Galvon and Cotswold Vale at this charity event organised by our friend John Walker. Some of you will remember him as he has been with us at Kop Hill. An older gentleman with a white 3A and irrepressible enthusiasm. Although he has no doubt many talents and skills, PCs and email are not among them. Hence the message is from his daughter, Nicola.
Hi Peter
My Dad John Walker has asked me to email you about the event he is organising on the 4th of June. The idea is that your group would organise their own run which will end at Hartsop Farm OX7 3AS.
We will put on a bit of lunch at Hartsop Farm at the end of your run. (burgers, salad, cakes, drinks)
Fingers crossed for nice weather so everyone can relax and enjoy good company.
Ideally cars would need to arrive at Hartsop Farm from 12 onwards for lunch starting at about 12.30pm.
Dad is organising this to raise funds for Children with Cancer, a charity he has supported for a while. So, we are asking for a minimum donation of £5 per person.
We do need to know numbers at the latest by Sunday 21st of May. It is probably best if the names and numbers come to me as Dad isn't very active on his email so please feel free to use this email.
I hope people will support Dad and we look forward to seeing as many as possible on the 4th of June.
Thank you
Nicola Walker
