Guest caine62
I've been meaning to get to the bottom of this for a while. Underneath the dash and just to the left of the steering wheel is a small curved lever which travels about an inch backwards and forwards. I have no idea what it does, does anyone know? I was banking on a fuel cut-off but I've played with it a few times and haven't noticed any difference. Or a switch for driving/fog lights or kenlowe which were removed before I bought the car. Thanks! Eli
BryanD
It opens the scuttle vent in front of the windscreen to let air through the heater. If you don't have it open, the heater and eyeball vents don't work very well. They are often very stiff and don't work particularly well, and confusingly aren't mentioned in the handbook - or at least not in the version I have. The later cars don't have this fitting. The opening flap was replaced with a plastic grille.

Jersey Royal
Thanks Bryan, I'll sleep easy tonight! Which way is open? Eli Hi Eli, Forward is open and flap vent between windscreen wipers should be open, and therefore pushed back towards engine flap should be shut.
