Guest caine62
Hi all, My hardtop has no headliner and it makes the exhaust note sound really tinny! I've found a TR specialist who sells new headliner trim, how hard is it to fit? Does it just clip in or do I need special tools for it? Thanks.
Jersey Royal
Well, i havent fitted one to mine yet or even obtained one as i wanted one in black and cant find one . I removed mine and can tell you that it is held in place and supported by aly rails which slide through a hoop of headliner on the inside, ie you cant see it. The rails simply clip into the holes you should see on the hardtop. That part seems easy enough. Then it glues to the front and goes behind the glass rubbers. On mine i removed the windows and rubbers easily with two spoon ends, the rubbers hadnot been sealed in place so they came out easily. Hope this is of help, whos your supplier? Regards Guy Guy, Cheers for this! Sounds like a bigger job than I thought, especially the removing the glass bit. www.triumph-trim.co.uk works out at £74 inc VAT for the headliner. I guess I now need to check if this includes the rails. Love the car btw, looks great! Eli
Jersey Royal
[ Cheers for this! Sounds like a bigger job than I thought, especially the removing the glass bit. Eli Thanks for you comment on the car, actually before i got her i was after a green one like yours but could not find one. I better not tell her that or she will start playing up. About the glass it was easy to take out, i did not need any force, using the flat end of the spoon from the oustide i just push the spoon in and turned it, the whole thing moves slightly, seems to be a bit of slack in the rubber. Certainly i would not have taken them out if i felt there was any chance of the glass breaking. The only reason i took glass out was because i will get top resprayed. The headlininer may just push up under the window rubber. Good Luck Guy
Guest caine62
Thanks Guy, I'll give it a go this weekend! Just been on the phone to Moss, they do a headliner kit for £103 inc VAT. Worth bearing in mind. Eli

Eli Dont forget adhesive to stick liner to metal areas , spray would probably be best and you may be able to just tuck the new lining up behind window rubber. Picture of ends of three rails and view of window seal seen from the side, the lower edge is the outside that is wider than the inside. Guest caine62
Cheers Guy, I would have looked a bit of an idiot without any adhesive! Have you looked into the seals around the front windows yet? Mine are in tatters and replacements cost c.£15 each. Do you think the furflex is moulded into a right angle or can you just bend it round the right angle and make it fit. Eli
Jersey Royal
Eli i have one that has just been bent, not a geat fit, and the other that hasbeen cut. There is a central metal core, the seal has been bentand then the ruber cut and reglued to make a better fit.
