boxofbits
Hi all As it’s St. George’s Day, just for a bit of fun, I thought I’d put up a couple of videos of George Polley in Hot Rod racing on the short ovals. The colour photo is when George lost it at the end of the straight in the ‘76 World Final. He said had the Anglia not had the lock of a London taxi, he wouldn’t have got away with it. It was a good race. Tom Laffey in 121 was certainly no slouch. Here are 5 events featuring Polley. Any Triumph connection? Well yes, he painted his cars Triumph Magenta.. Derek Warwick was Superstox Champion in 1970 ( pictured alongside the great 320 Dave Pearce) before moving into F1. I have a feeling though, he would never have been a match for Polley (306). The video quality pre-digital is not brilliant fortunately. I hope you enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HEgxRe4k2g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2l8WhRSxoc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqNVoQz4oj0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZVgnCevtpI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfpUMVvfJk0 Kevin
