TR24178
Just back from Germany and France, we went to watch WRC Germany and to enjoy the roads in the TR. Its been our ambition to go on a touring holiday with the TR, but not to drive it on British, French and German motorways which is not any sort of pleasure. So with our Motorhome and trailer loaded with TS4178 we set off first to Minheim in the Mosel valley, the campsite a quarter of a mile from stage 4 and 6 of WRC Germany. To add to the enjoyment we were joined by a great rival from the BHRC Ken Forster and his wife. Ken and I enjoyed the cars and the banter reliving our old battles on the stages.............Meeting Gwyndaf Evans was also a great treat, he was doing tyre notes for his son Elfin, who did exceptionally well on the event. We saw the Slowly Sideways cars doing their demo runs, with a very sad outcome on the Saturday which we did not witness changing our plans for that day and not visiting the Baumholder Stages........ The rally over and our friends heading for Switzerland, we set about touring the Mosel Region and then onto Alsace, the TR at home on many cols we chased up in Alsace. foster461
Sounds like a great trip John and it looks like you solved your lightweight ally trailer problem too. Stan
TR24178
Yes Stan it was a great trip, the trailer is not ally, but zinced steel and very cleverly made by Woodford Trailers of Daventry UK and very light and legal, the Fiat engined motorhome had no trouble pulling the outfit at the legal limit on all but the steepest climbs, I hate following campers and caravans that hold you up!! Once we had got the boring UK, French, Belgian and German motorways out of the way the TR took over and it was so much fun to go out everyday exploring in the TR2!! Can't wait for holidays to come round again, Edited September 10, 2013 by TR24178
