I'm moving the steering rack while the car is on stands through its full motion. The movement seems all smooth except when I come close the being centered. As I move through this area the movement is not so smooth and has a couple of slightly tight/rough areas in it movement. Once I get through this area its all smooth again Is this a sign that the rack is done or needs rebuilding ? Does anyone know of a good description on how to rebuild the racks ? AlanT Posted August 11, 2013 Report Share Posted August 11, 2013 These are not hard to dismantle. I fiited a new pinion and new bearings in the ends of the tube. Much will depend on what parts you can get now. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
