hermanhoekstra
Hello, I was thinking of combining my European 2L engine with a Cylinder Head from my new drophead ( Florida) And putting this combination back in my new car. and in doing so increase the HP.and getting a unleaded motor The cylinder head from my new car only has done 48 DKM and has a Unleaded head !!. Hope everybody can understand my writing? And give me some useful info Greetings Herman
Cinnobar
Herman, in fact all cylinder heads are reckoned to be unleaded as their is no difference in part number from the European ones to the US ones. US cars have lower compression in order to meet US emmission requirements however this is obtained by low compression pistons and not by the head. I suspect the cams are different so I'd suggest you run the european cam. So in effect you shouldn't have any difference in running the combination you propose. hermanhoekstra
Hello Cinnobar, I have looked at the rimmer bros site and they only offer one kind of camshaft. but in the cilinder head you can buy two differend ones the american one has EGR pipework ???? I have included the part from the rimmer site : Cylinder Head Assembly; (UK Specification) Reconditioned (Unleaded) - (NI) - RB7011R New (Unleaded) - (NI) - RB7011 Cylinder Head Assembly; (USA Specification) Modified for use with EGR valve pipework. Reconditioned (Unleaded) - (NI) - RB7022R New (Unleaded) - (NI) - RB7022
Cinnobar
OK most of the specialists list unleaded heads but the fact is that their was no difference in head spec when new, for any of them. Yes the US one will have EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) etc but that is just a drilling in the head for the ports. Every UK owner I know with 2 litre lumps run unleaded and has had NO problems with valve seat recession. QED Jim
hermanhoekstra
Hello Jim, Thanks for your answer. If i can use unleaded in my own engine i think i dont need to undertake this exercise. I try to sell the american engine greetings To all Herman
