Guest rammers
Is the 3500 engine from the p6 the same as an sd1 unit?
andrewt
Yes & no. The SD1 is a good evolution of the P6 engine. However the P6 has a shorter front/timing assembly meaning it is easier to install in a Tr7. It also has a 10.5:1 CR as opposed to the SD1 with 9.35:1 This however may not be an advantage if you cannot access high octane fuel. Older P6 engines have rope oil seals, later ones & SD1 have modern seals. SD1 blocks are superior, the later the better. SD1 heads are much better, etc. Generally i would recommend you get as late an engine as you can, a late Range Rover engine is even better. David Hardcastle has a couple of excellent books that go into huge detail. There is loads to learn that could never be covered in a quick response like this so apologies for a brief response (i am working after all!) Cheers Andy
