Hi

I’ve just discovered this forum, so please be gentle.

I’m currently restoring a TR6, that was partly stripped before I started and I not sure how a few bits should go back together. I’m at the stage of installing the soft top. I have a couple of questions that I hope somebody will be able to help with.

The soft top has a tab of material after the last press stud, at the top of the B post. This part of the top gets trapped against the door seal when the door is shut, is this normal? Also how does the rear of the window glass make an effective seal against the soft top?

Many Thanks

I think it is.

I'm afraid it doesn't.

Er, well it should; sort of!

This is a particular problem area, especially for restored cars as it’s dependant on so many variables - look back at previous forum posts re adjusting door glass, windscreen frame angle & even the hood! One of my door windows seals as perfect as you could ever want (BMW standards!) but it's sods law that it's the passenger side & the drivers side refuses to do anywhere near so well. I have messed with it for ages & still can’t get it right. I have all but given up really but I still think it's possible! At the end of the day, it’s a convertible in the “old fashioned” sense; who cares, take the top down & you will hear that exhaust note so much better when you floor the throttle!
