TomZ
Feedback is part of the answer but to whom. The supplier MUST be told. The supplier should follow this up with the source. The component details could be put on the forum as P/No, Description, fault etc thus making the community aware. Perhaps the TR Register should get involved and monitor this feedback to see if there is a trend or cycle. Perhaps the SDF should take note!! Roger I believe that this is the main problem. The sales of spare parts for classic cars are done with a quality system that is as old as the cars. At the same time the clients/buyers expect the same assured quality and consistency as they are used to with the other modern things/car parts. I don't believe that one of the suppliers has ever heard of or cared about the standard ISO TS 16949, otherwise things like this (the hub) wouldn't happen. Together with the introduction and application of the standard the prices of the spare parts would just start to soar, and 3/4 of the parts wouldn't be available anymore! What remains is that each buyer has to be his own quality inspector and must be able to evaluate the quality and the suitability of the new part for the foreseen application.
