Technical query on front suspension

Recommended Posts

Hi ,

Just wondered if anyone can possibly help me - my TR3A has been leaning to the right - the N/S/F is measuring at 26" and 1/8 from ground to wheel arch O/S/F is 24" and 3/4 ( before any remarks of I need to lose weight - I can promise its not due to me !!!)

Question what is the correct height from ground to wheel arch ?

Question if I was buying a new front set ( which of course you have to - to make sure both will be same ) in the Moss catologue there are two front suspension coils one is 9 and 3/4" free length and the other 11" free length - which is the right one for 1960 TR3A .

I look forward to hearing from anyone - theres one or two events incl track at CastleCombe coming up which I like to use the TR3A and give it a bit of beans - any help or advice , I would be extremely grateful - thank you .

All the best ,

Will

This topic was covered about 10 days ago on this forum. You will find it about 5 topics down this list under "Front ride height". The springs that came with my 1958 TR3A were and still ar the shorter springs. These require the aluminium spacer and 3 rubber or soft plastic piecesabout 1/4" thick at each end of the spring plus another on top of the alum. spacer. When S-T introduced the longer spring, that new design no longer used the aluminium spacer above the spring.
