tore-norway
Hello, I recently bought a Californian spec'ed 1979 5-speed TR7 convertible. The engine had a leaking head, so I have taken the complete engine with gearbox out of the car and want to do the necessary upgrades. I have read that the US cars only had about 80 HP because of low compression, exhaust cleaning and aircondition. I have removed aircon and airpump, and bought a set of refurbished HS6 carbs. I wonder if it is recommended to change to high compression pistons? What more follows if I do? I am thinking of camshaft, bearings etc. What is the downside of increasing the compression? If I stick to the low compression pistons and US camshaft, what would be the power I get with HS6, K&N filters and sports exhaust? Lot of questions. Do someone happen to know the answers?
