Davidw Posted March 1, 2009 Report Share Posted March 1, 2009 Assuming it's the original then it will be an A type with O/D on 2,3 &4. The way to tell is if the O/D solenoid is vertical it's an A type, if Horizontal a J. Hope this helps. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Quite a few MB numbered 'A' type boxes from saloons were fitted as replacements in later years,and the solenoid on them is horizontal like a 'J' type! All 'A' type o/d boxes will have a 6cm "ish" diameter notched round brass drain plug on them!! Quote Link to post Share on other sites
